My big takeaway before voting gets underway at Michigan Dems convention: the energy for the left candidates is absolutely nuts this year. Abdul gets huge standing ovation, especially after call to Abolish ICE; Stevens ($9 million+ from AIPAC) gets sustained boos from beginning to end of her speech.

My take is that adoptees are both infantalized for life and treated like the beloved pets of our adoptive parents.
In neither ontological framework do we have agency or the right to have POVs about our identities outside of gratitude for being taken in and saved.

There’s a collective belief that the human equivalent of animal shelters exists out there somewhere where adoptable kids in need of forever homes are just languishing.
PS The reason for transporting two 53-lb kettlebells across the gym floor (the farmer carry) on a regular basis is so you can walk two 25-lb bags of sweet potatoes, olive oil, and oatmeal home from the market and up two flights of stairs without needing to use your Medicare card at the ER.

Friends, Oedipus Rex is playing on Broadway’s Studio 54 and it’s a compelling production, with a contemporary setting and a focus on the tragedy of adoption. (Oedipus is a political candidate w a falsified birth certificate). My shirt is swag from that show. 10/10 recommend.
