Just distancing himself ahead of the election. I don't like him but he knows exactly what he's doing.
Now you're talking. Or singing.
Oh, you didn't see the Waiuku (?) presser the other day? That was fun.
His ability to be in opposition while in government is quite something.
Lovely music, good performances, terrible early-80s digital sound. You can see/hear why people distrusted CDs in those early days. Willa Catkin agrees. #nowlistening #classicalmusic
Were Man U a decent watch in the treble season? I remember them being inexorable, grinding out results, but I don't remember them being scintillating. And if I were a Utd fan I'd have been more than happy with that.
I'm constantly amazed that we have music from that era at all, and scholars keep finding more. How cool is that?
Aww 😞
Just had a pleasant chat with cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Seemed a pleasant chap, even if he supports Arsenal. #classicalmusic
If you want K birds, visit NZ. Kaka, kakapo, kea. Anything parrot-y, basically.
Not my repertoire at all.
Have you heard Rene Jacobs's recording with Freiburg Barok? Absolutely thrilling. m.youtube.com/watch?v=yvB7...
Not sure if I told you, but I got given someone's entire collection of about 1000 CDs, and there were 25 or so of the Romantic Piano Concerto releases. Entirely wasted on me, of course... 🤣
I've listened to every episode of the pod ever, since the very beginning, from NZ. Weirdly, the pod has come to mean more to me than the actual football games themselves. Go well tomorrow, Barry, and congratulations on your amazing fundraising.
Opinion of what, though? You haven't read the story, so you don't have an opinion about it.
Well, if you're going to comment on a story, don't you think you should know what it says first?
Why do you think that?
Have you read the story?
That's fabulous.
An annoying Facebook post that reads: Today in New Zealand, 30 March, 2004, history Michael King was silenced by a fatal car crash at the age of 58. He was the author of 'The Penguin History of New Zealand' which was the most popular book of the year. Here he is being interviewed about that book as it launched. King made the point that the fashion trend of referring to our country's name as "Aotearoa" was a State imposition. He pushed back against it. Ironically, the title of his own book has now succumbed to the very same pressure!
My response: Rachael King Michael King did not "push back" against the use of Aotearoa, in fact used it liberally himself. Just because he lays out his understanding of the origins of the name, doesn't mean he thought it was not a legitimate name to adopt. Language evolves, and if this one word 'Aotearoa' gives us a Mãori equivalent of New Zealand to use alongside it, why is that a problem? He didn't think it was. Why should you use his words out of context to make a point that he didn't believe himself?
So frickin sick of these people taking our father’s words out of context for their own ends.
Well that was a pleasant 30 mins chatting to Roxanna Panufnik. What a gracious person. #classicalmusic
Sure, but you're really overthinking this, CB.
John admitted to hitting Cynthia. So if he wasn't specifically a terf, he was certainly terf adjacent.
Pre-Yoko John: totally terfy. Post-Yoko: not a chance.
😪
The Strauss performance is great. And for 1959, the sound is excellent, too, just lacking a bit of snap.

Solid.
Identify, please.
Ooh.
