MS NOW: Are you prepared to go head to head with the federal government?
HENNEPIN COUNTY ATTORNEY MARY MORIARTY: We absolutely are
Posts by Cedrick Frazier
I've walked into the DFL city convention in time to hear Cedrick Frazier, candidate for Hennepin County Attorney addressing the delegates. He says he'll deliver what the community wants: accountability and prosecution for federal agents who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
@cedrickfrazier.bsky.social giving a well received speech.
DFL Rep. Cedrick Frazier calls out GOP legislators who continue to deny and ignore the effects of ICE's occupation of Minnesota:
"Look at what happened to this state. Acknowledge the harm. Not as a political concession, but as a human one. And let's respond with the urgency Minnesotans deserve."
And now that Mary Moriarty is not running for office, people who want a county attorney committed to holding law enforcement accountable should support @cedrickfrazier.bsky.social
This is a breakthrough case with national implications. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is now at the forefront of standing up to Donald Trump’s authoritarianism. This case is just the beginning.
As the next County Attorney, I will prosecute the federal agents who have violated Minnesota law.
This is our opportunity to choose a candidate with clear priorities, a real plan to prosecute ICE, and a proven track record of delivering on our shared progressive values.
I will not stop fighting until we achieve full transparency and accountability.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is now at the forefront of standing up to Donald Trump’s authoritarianism. The fight for transparency and accountability cannot—and must not—end with this year’s County Attorney election. That’s why the DFL endorsement matters so much.
We will secure convictions and send a clear message to Trump and his agents across the country that no person is above the law.
As a State Representative, I am partnering with Attorney General Keith Ellison and Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) leadership to advance legislation that adds investigators at the BCA.
As your next County Attorney, I will prosecute the federal agents who have violated Minnesota law. I am not waiting until after the election to begin this work.
The ICE agent is now charged in Hennepin County District Court with two counts of Second-Degree Assault. I want to be absolutely clear: no one is above the law—not Donald Trump, not his masked federal agents. And this case is just the beginning.
A State Trooper responding to the victims’ 911 call acted promptly to secure statements and preserve evidence after the road rage incident, eliminating the potential for the Feds to begin their obstruction playbook. As a result, the County Attorney has the evidence to move the case forward.
The victims immediately reported the incident to 911, and the ICE agent and his partner later gave statements admitting this happened.
This is a landmark case with national implications. I reviewed the criminal complaint. It is a straightforward case. An ICE agent is alleged to have pointed his gun at a driver and front seat passenger during a road rage incident on eastbound Highway 62 in South Minneapolis without any reason.
Today, the Hennepin County Attorney made history by announcing the first-ever criminal charge against an ICE agent for their actions during Operation Metro Surge.
We honor Mariah Samuels not only in remembrance, but through action. Let her memory be a catalyst for meaningful change—so that fewer lives are lost, and more people in our community can live with the safety, dignity, and support they deserve.
On day one, I will establish a Victim and Survivor Advocacy Council. A group of victims, families, and loved ones who will help shape the policies and practices of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. Victims deserve meaningful choices/support, and it’s my priority to center their voices.
By addressing trauma early, we can help children heal and interrupt the cycle of violence before it carries into the next generation.
I will prioritize and expand funding for the critical work of the Domestic Abuse Service Center (DASC). Through DASC and our Victim Services Division, we will partner with community organizations to ensure that young people who have experienced or witnessed abuse can access care/resources they need.
I am currently co-authoring legislation at the Capitol that establishes a state-level task force focused on improving responses to domestic violence. As County Attorney, my administration will stand firmly with survivors and support them on their path to safety and healing.
It requires a Hennepin County Attorney who listens to those with lived experience, strengthens support networks, holds abusers accountable, and works in true partnership with the community to build a culture grounded in safety, respect, and prevention.
Domestic violence does not exist in isolation. Its impact ripples through our schools, workplaces, healthcare systems, and neighborhoods. Ending this cycle cannot fall solely on survivors or any single organization. It requires sustained, collective action across every part of our system.
Mariah was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a neighbor. She had a restraining order. She reported threats and stalking by her abusive ex-boyfriend. She spoke openly about her fear for her safety. She took the very steps we urge survivors to take—and still, the system failed her.
While this verdict delivers a measure of accountability for David Wright’s actions and ensures he cannot cause further harm, it cannot restore what was taken or ease the profound grief carried by Mariah’s loved ones and our community.
Today’s first-degree murder conviction in the tragic domestic homicide of Mariah Samuels is a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic abuse—and of the ways our system can fail those it is meant to protect.
Robin, Cedrick Frazier, Ilhan Omar, Keith Ellison and MALCS organizers.
Thank you MALCS organizers for this powerful opportunity last week to bring together myself, @ilhanmn.bsky.social, @keithellison.bsky.social and @cedrickfrazier.bsky.social to reflect on the impact of ICE’s occupation at all levels of government and what’s to come.
This is why I am the only labor-endorsed candidate in this race and why the DFL endorsement matters so much. This is our opportunity to choose a candidate with a proven track record of delivering on our shared progressive values.
Their stories make clear that urgent action is needed.
We deserve a Hennepin County Attorney who is willing to fight for working people and bring forward innovative solutions to the challenges ahead.
Today, as Chair of the House Ways & Means Committee, I was proud to elevate the voices of Minnesotans at the Capitol. We heard powerful testimony from local officials, farmers, community leaders, small business owners, and educators—each sharing firsthand the lasting harm this operation has caused.
