I'd wear that outfit out in public! Of course I was wearing flipflops and what looked like pajamas, with my dirty hair back in a scrunchie, when I paused at the library to check out books. The woman behind the desk recognized my name. "Are you THE AUTHOR?" So there's always a risk. 😄
I submitted months ago, got a confirmation number, and have gotten repeated emails to submit a claim. I emailed to double check (and included my confirmation number), and they replied that I was registered, they were just reminding everybody. Terrible system, hope there’s really a payout.
Yes, I’ve gotten dozens of emails that seem AI-generated and promise to deliver thousands of readers. It’s become so tedious! But the video angle was new.
A few years ago there were a couple of guys who wanted to launch their studio with the movie of SCW. They did sone pretty impressive groundwork. Alas, never got off the ground.
Wow, just got a new variation on the book club scam...someone offering to do a video promotion on The Shape-Changer's Wife (which came out THIRTY YEARS AGO). He says he's already made the video. Should I ask to see it???
Nah. But this is next-level.
I know there's one called Oodles of Doodles. www.amazon.com/Oodles-Doodl...
❤️❤️❤️
Proud to be a part of it!
Nettle and Bone is SO GOOD
I’m so glad to hear that! Thanks for letting me know.

ME TOO
No one is tired of hearing you talk about her. You’ll miss her forever and you can talk about her forever.
I love the smell of smoke after I’ve blown out a candle. Also agree with the person who mentioned clove—love that as well.
I was sort of astonished to add it up and realized it had been 17 years. Felt more like...five? Or 100, depending on the day.
I’m always glad to hear my books have been someone’s comfort reads because other people’s books have gotten me through so many tough times of my own.
I’m so glad to hear that!
Since Shifter and Shadow came out last year (17 years later!), there are six total. Plus a couple novellas set in that world.
What a great idea! I just did it! (And since I recently had to CHANGE my longtime website address, it's an even better idea!)
three paper squares featuring stylized glyphs and the words intelligence, creativity, and power.
On my Facebook page, I post weekly "blessings" drawn from my Elemental Blessings series. The ones for the first of the year are too good not to share: intelligence, creativity, and power. When you use your brain and your imagination, you will discover how powerful you can be.
(screenshotting and saving post for all eternity). Thank you! I just finished A SORCERESS COMES TO CALL and loved it. Am going to give it to a friend who escaped an abusive home situation with her own kind of magic.
Exactly
Wait! I meant Dream-Maker’s Magic! (Part of a trilogy—listed tge wrong title! Sorry)
Is it acceptable to name one of my own books? YA novel The Truth-Teller’s Tale has the secondary lead in a wheelchair from about one third of the way into the story.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the story! I know it took me years to get around to it, but I had so much fun revisiting that world.
Wow, those are really impressive. I love all the moody moonlight images.
Meanwhile, here's a link to a guest post about "Shifter and Shadow" that I did for the @scalzi.com Whatever blog. All about what I had to think about as I revisited a series 17 years later... whatever.scalzi.com/2025/09/09/t...
