Space itself is an innovation. You can share the recipe for the best ice cream in the world, but if the seller has no time to churn, taste, or even pause between customers, the recipe is meaningless. The first innovation is not the flavour, it is actually creating the space.

🙏 I’ll use this 🍦 example to illustrate impact when learning is shared-with DN teams-for patient care, service efficiency and staff wellbeing. I wonder though, how can we share innovation without space or ‘bandwidth’ to receive it? Is the first innovation to create space to be able to experiment?

Choosing Community Nursing: Reflections from Newly Qualified Nurses - The Queen's Institute of Community Nursing Discover why newly qualified nurses are choosing community nursing, challenging myths, and finding positive, rewarding career beginnings in community care.

🧵3. the @theqicn.bsky.social blog post reports what the new generation of nurses think about community.

Glad to hear they are countering the ‘trope’ about NQN in the community.

If the Left Shift is to succeed, we need the workforce to deliver it.

🧵2. Im commonly asked “don’t you deskill in the community?” Or “don’t you get bored?”
Truth is, I am an independent autonomous NMP (v300 prescriber). I go from an unstable diabetic patient, to a person with osteomyelitis to their wound, to a ReSPECT conversation and Advance Care Planning. #DN #QN

🧵1. When I tell people I am a nurse, often they ask “in the hospital?”
Someone recently admitted that she has “no idea district nurses still visited people at home”
The reality is that there is a whole bunch of us, making daily visits delivering clinical care in a domestic environment. #DN #Nurse

Is your mobile signal rubbish? Council uses bin lorries to map mobile coverage in Norfolk - Norfolk County Council Norfolk County Council has launched a new online tool that will help residents to check mobile signal in their area, using data collected from Norfolk's bin lorries.

And it’s on top of data collected by bin lorries to show how “rubbish” the signal is in some areas.

Digital tools are the “in thing” at the moment. But much of the scepticism in my spheres of conversation is because in ‘the lab’ these things work well - because there is steady network connectivity. In practice, in some areas, in a patients home, I can’t get a single to phone 999. #nurse

Snap! There’s so much potential to improve health outcomes, QoL and preventative care with quite small tweaks to systems and processes. The appetite is there in lots of professional groups, it just needs someone / something to bring it onto the same plate 🍽️

A friend of mine is completing her digital badge for the ANP standard. I’m wondering how many fellow SPQ DNs have submitted evidence to demonstrate their advance practice? Especially as the domains of practice are the same 4 pillars of practice for ANP and the DN standards. #nurse #ANP #v300

Women in support of the trans+ community - Not in our name

We want the media and politicians to recognise that there is a large number of women who are supportive of the trans+ community. We call on them to report truthfully about the sources of violence against women and to address the systems that perpetuate harm. notinourname.org.uk/petition/not...

My mechanic recently complimented me on my logical reasoning and understanding of mechanics, and said “you’d be an amazing mechanic”.

Good job I’m a nurse, and didn’t “grow out of” being curious about how things work, and how to fix them.

🧵 In the twix between excelling at GCSEs and burnout in AS levels. I considered doing an apprenticeship in car mechanics.

I was actively discouraged because “you won’t like being dirty and oily” - presumably because I was / am a cis girl.

'Vast majority' of parents should be involved if children question gender, schools told School leaders welcome the

If you were trying to come up with more harmful guidance towards trans and non-binary young people you would be hard pressed to find it. The fact it is backed by Cass shows how wrong it is.
We are already seeing an increase in suicide rates among trans young people.

How is your organisation planning to support you in consolidating and scope of practice?

Yes. I also like that you can reread a step if that doesn’t quite sink in. Rather than rewind to hear them say it the same way.

I always go for transcript over watching / listening.
But i can’t get on with subtitles if im watching a tv show.
Unless is Saga on The Bridge - then I can manage that as a compromise for the joy of Saga.

This week I had a “rapid car clean-up” experience – unfortunately I was one of the many collisions on the ice. Crashed car admin is the only thing worse than having to quickly empty all the pockets and car cupboards before the recovery arrives.
🚙 fortunately no one was hurt

I have a question
How is decreasing the payment allowance for travel supporting the Long Term Plan - hospital to community?
“car mileage rates will drop from 59p to 56p per mile for journeys up to 3,500 miles annually”
Many community nurses use their own vehicles to visit patients. Is this ok?!
