This may be one of those cases where the right legal result protects unsavory people. In the long run, and especially in the current political environment, I can see this actually being a useful bulwark against efforts to restrict gender-affirming care.
This is also how I feel about the presidency tbh. When Obama was president I sometimes went an entire week without thinking about who was running things. Now my first thought every morning is, "Oh God, what happened while I was sleeping?"
