billions in profits, millions in lawsuits. not a penny for the people making any of it exist with blood sweat and an ocean of tears.

dude there was a small haven, a little pocket of game dev companies here in the South, that is p much obliterated bc of the greedy companies' merger-layoff strategies. as someone who moved to LA for work and back, it is so insane how much this rly strips a lot of ppls choice to work in other regions

I asked Epic to confirm the status of Harmonix and Mediatonic following the latest layoffs and received the below statement in response.

Some Harmonix staffers have indicated they were laid off over on LinkedIn, and Mediatonic was reportedly decimated by cuts in 2023.

I wonder how many are left?

1,150 layoffs this week thanks to the selfishness of “game” company CEOs who’d rather eek out another billion for their pockets than consider the impact they have on devs, testers, artists, families… disgusting and disgraceful.
