Seriously- and it sums up a lot of feelings about AI quite well.

Hi #PortfolioDay !
I do book covers and comic covers, working on both full color digital and traditional media using graphite and ink.
Just repeating it because some are repeating Microsoft's lies unquestioningly about them having to cut people to save money, etc.
Their gaming division was 26 *billion* USD in the black. They had just posted record revenue. They were swimming in money.
But Microsoft wants to invest *80bn* in AI.
New from me, on The Guardian (!!): Generative AI is causing new, unusual problems for game developers — people are being accused of using it, even when they say they haven't. Building trust between a studio and its player base is more important than ever.

Pieces that paid me $50-$100 are still in print or being resold or repackaged into new products 15+yrs later. Unfortunately most studios use work-for-hire and negotiation room is slim. And sadly AI further is limiting our bargaining power.
I’m not going to call out the game or the art, because I signed the contract- but as my husband has gotten into board games over the last few years, I’ve also gotten a front line seat to seeing how often illustrations get reused .
I’m watching a board game video for a new game, and surprise! Art I did 15yrs ago for an older game is featured in this new game. While I’m flattered, obviously I didn’t get paid for the card I probably got $100 back in the day. Anyway, this a cautionary tale for why work for hire sucks people.
Comic of a smiling sloth hanging in a tree: Am I lazy? Or is capitalist work culture based not on efficiency but on the impossible area of eternal growth draped over an outdated structure of unending exploitation barely restrained by successive workers rights movements which sought to limit the number of hours an employer could force you to work in exchange for a basic survival rate?
Being a digital artist is exhausting 🤷♂️
these are so good, so many good shapes
ARTISTS!
I'm sharing my contract template with simplified language and easy to fill in sections
This will be most helpful for smaller clients bc corps have their own contracts
But providing the contract will help protect you from giving away rights to your art!

I love all of these, they are so well done
Damn your work is so good 👀
A person curled up in on himself, with gilding coming off his body similar to the Kintsugi technique. His head is enveloped in smoke. And the paint seems to be coming off in certain places on the canvas.
It's been a while since I've done a commission, but I'm delighted to be working again for a musical artist, Marian Tem. It was a real pleasure to work with Marian, who gave me a lot of freedom to interpret his music in an illustration. So many thanks to him for his trust

1/4 Well look at that. Open Ai and Google outright reject “Opt-Out” models, hell they even reject basic transparency requirements.
AI companies demand they get everything, including our Intellectual Property, for free, and without anyone ever being able to tell the companies no.
Don't tell anyone but I think my dream is to make concept art for something that very few people would be interested in buying.
With you on that one
With flowers decorating her long dark hair, a young woman draped in flowing white fabric spreads her arms wide as she dances along the top of a moss covered wall. The narrow path set high in the clouds unwinds like a ribbon, zigzagging left to right and back again. As the path recedes into the distance breaks become larger and more apparent.

A painting in The End of Nature subset of my personal work, which represents humanity as somewhat oblivious to the support that nature provides for them. 1/2
It's been a long time since i had the opportunity to work on First person guns.
So i scratched the itch with these 3 Fantasy-themed weapons.
It's true.
Hey, still amazing!
Holy shit that is so cool
Always loved this piece Jeff!
QRP with your wings art! (Sorry I couldn't choose!)
So GOOD
Teams is truly cursed
It’s been such a heartbreaking thing to witness. Like it’s not just a job, work is often where we form friendships and have a social group, so it’s not just money it’s also is an open hole of connection that has to be filled too.
Love seeing James Jean on here
Davi is an incredibly talented concept artist and really great person to work with. Please help give his work a boost!
