I think it’s important to note that the first example involves a woman doing bad things. If it was a man accused of DV it would be “controversial” but not conclusive. Never underestimate the level of misogyny in the general public

Joann T Blankenship and Truck Gypsy, your little conversation is everything to me this morning. You remind me of all the good women who raised me. Thank you for the smile

A must read from Polish writer Wiktoria Wilk:
"What is called a 'demographic crisis' and a 'labour shortage' by European institutions and media is exposed as what it really is: women taking back their time and their bodies from a democracy that never really believed it was their own."
Best wishes from a stranger that good things will come to you
No one is safe in the US. Get out while you can.

💯 agree with this observation
I kept my faith - flickering with occasional bursts of grace - through agnostic parents and atheist friends (who make good sense to me) and through a philosophy degree. I kept it through work that exposes me to depravity. I kept it through personal sorrow. It’s slipping away from me now
💯
Love them. This is what modern music should be right now (but mostly isn’t) Angry, engaged with the world, fearless, challenging, and contagious. Punk’s not dead
One Canadian lawyer here, reporting for protest duty. I let Thompson Reuters know what I think of them earlier this month and canceled my update subscription. Sucks for me, but worth the pain
This is not okay. There are so many reasons to find her contemptible. There’s no need to attack her physical appearance. She owes us human decency, not a particular body type
Yeah, no. Thanks, but no from a Canadian here. Stay home. Fix what is deeply, deeply wrong with the American psyche. That would do more good in the world than interference ever did
In addition to the apology, thank you. It’s so hard not to be self-serious these days.
Oh geez. It’s early in my time zone and I took the that bait without thinking - the only mitigating fact I can offer is that I keep hearing people say similar things in all seriousness andI was primed for a rant. Apologies
Look at you just throwing abortion into that sentence - which I think is harkening back to a simpler more nuanced time? It lends the lie to your thesis, though: politics was only ever a quiet pastime for those whose autonomy/equality was unaffected by it
@cbcnews.ca I want an answer from my public broadcaster, pls. Why did CBC’s headline about the new Epstein release qualify a victim’s evidence as “uncorroborated?” Words have meaning and that word creates a vile insinuation (contrary to Cdn law) that a victim’s evidence alone is insufficient.
It’s the nature of sex assault (and many other crimes) that it is rarely witnessed by benign 3rd party witnesses. Cdn law recognizes that. I’d hope our public broadcaster would too. Be less misogynistic in the year of our Lord 2026
@cbcnews.ca Interestingly in your story about the release of child sex assault allegations against DT you noted they were “uncorroborated.” why? To undermine the witness? This is not the dark ages and evidence of SA victims does NOT need to be corroborated. Perhaps you meant “untested.” Do better
Lol! Thanks, Captain obvious. Sadly, that has nothing to do with my point - which you unfortunately didn’t understand but still commented on.
You are not arguing in good faith here. Words have meaning. If you want to argue against the plain meaning of words set out one after the other in a deliberate order at a specific time and for a specific reason in an official statement, you’d best have a strong argument for why
Yeah that’s totally what I said. Support for the rule of law = support for an unlawful regime. How specious and disingenuous.
There is no ambiguity to: “Canada supports the United States acting…”. The US is acting (illegally) and our PM says he supports it. In our name. I want to be clear as a Canadian that I still support the rule of law. There cannot be exceptions or it is meaningless
I’m not reading the Nationalist Post, thanks. If you think there’s a justification for our PM’s failure to clearly condemn an act of aggression that arises from a breach of American and International law, then you can articulate that reason
@mark-carney.bsky.social how can you support an illegal military action? Trump did not have approval to attack Iran as constitutionally required. Canada is a rule of law country, is it not? Or perhaps as a proud Cdn and lawyer, I’ve dedicated my life to an illusion not shared by our PM.

As a Canadian, I expect our government to condemn the targeting of schools and murder of children, not support the murderers.
Americans, correct me if I’m wrong but did your military not just accept and follow an illegal order? What happens now?
There’s also the whole question about whether fasting has any of the same beneficial effects on the physiology of people who can get pregnant. There’s a lot of reason to believe fasting is harmful to female reproductive biology. For obvious reasons.
