Since embarking on an outdoor learning module on a cold, damp Saturday in February, Amanda Burton Smith has contemplated her own connection with nature and considered how she can nurture connections between children and nature.
In this final blog, Amanda reflects on her learning.

Helen, Anne, Sara and Sally were there on behalf of the Froebel Partnership to present our work - Being and Becoming: A Froebelian Community of Evidenced Practice.
During our time we had the privilege of visiting Keilhau and Bad Blankenburg, sites where Froebel created his school and kindergarten.
At the end of July, the Froebel Partnership went to Erfurt, Germany to the International Froebel Society biennial conference. We enjoyed 3 days of thought-provoking presentations, visits and networking opportunities.
Amanda Burton Smith's fifth blog considers the opportunities for nurseries and schools to create wildlife friendly environments in ways that could conserve nature while enabling children to feel connected as part of it.

Read Amanda Burton Smith's fourth blog in which she discusses her childhood fascination with ponds and her interest in finding out more about how schools can use ponds safely to enable children to observe and care for pond life in what could be termed, ‘pond pedagogy’.

Read Amanda Burton Smith's blog which considers whether being connected to nature correlates to conserving it and if so, how an educator might engage with larger organisations in order to nurture positive attitudes towards conservation in children.

The ‘biophilia hypothesis’ of Kellert and Wilson (1995) made Amanda Burton Smith curious about whether children who have developed a connection with nature and saw themselves as part of it, would be more inclined to play a role in protecting it.

Read Amanda Burton Smith's first blog, Nurturing Connections with Nature from a Froebelian Perspective, written at the outset of her engagement with the Outdoor Learning module at the University of Chichester.
