Agreed. There’s simply no need for Liverpool to take that risk even on probabilistic measure when they couldn’t be closer to the 20th league title. Can’t just keep thinking about future planning when there’s big prizes to win in the present, especially when the player in question is Trent.

Not planning to buy a GK anytime soon but I’ve leaned towards Pickford throughout for the DGW. Seen him do well in these accumulated home games in the back end of the season in the past.

Honestly I don’t know how long-term a pick I want as the Saka replacement just yet, but I may be pushed into making a decision tonight with the price changes. Probably makes sense to buy Ode and then move off him if things change down the line or if his minutes aren’t as secure as first thought.

Appreciate the reply. Safe to say then that you'd pick him over the other midfielders, or you feel that there is an argument for the likes of Martinelli and Trossard on money and maybe also transfer-saving grounds?

From a purely analytics view Odegaard will stand out as the best attacking pick but what do you make of his recent minutes? The early sub vs Everton and also being subbed vs Fulham when both games weren’t won yet are making me wary of picking him.

According to my understanding, the two things people seem to be most mad about are: introducing it mid-season, and the high points ceiling of such a chip due to the table bonus rules which can bring forth high variance outcomes. I embrace the idea generally but clearly it still is a work in progress

For its season-long viability, I feel the budget needs to increase to accommodate more clear and defined pricing tiers for the managers, and the table bonus rules need to be binned to bring the AM feature in line with the simplicity of the rest of the game.

This for me is a major obstacle to the success of the AM chip. It seems for their game design they wanted the same budget to apply for the AM (hence why prices are cheap), but they wanted to create some appeal for the cheapest managers. But these rules introduce a lot more variance, esp across 3 GWs

I think it is here to stay and will become a permanent feature next season instead of being a chip. My theory is that they couldn’t implement the backend changes in time for the new season to accommodate the addition of assistant manager, which is why it was developed as a multi-GW chip.

It can certainly be more refined but my initial thought is that I don’t think this chip is a bad introduction to the game. I would like to see it available across a full season to be able to tell how much better or worse it makes the game generally.

Maybe in future seasons it becomes more interesting to use if it can spread out chip usage across a 38-GW season.

As for my thoughts on the chip itself, I think the idea generally has some merit but it might have added an unnecessary level of complexity to the game, particularly with the scoring system. Also not sure what to make of the fact that it spans 3 GWs, given that most have stockpiled the other chips.

Sure. My point was that it feels like they settled on wanting to have an AM chip at the start itself but didn’t know the best way to integrate it with the rest of the game which is why they kept it secret.

Doesn’t come across to me as a panic-based decision. Feel like they needed time to work it out in the back end how to integrate it alongside the rest of the UI.
