Wow what a loser. In spite of his high brow parents, he is not rich, which is also a thing I, the NYT, would not find to be appropriate.

Everyone knows the economy is doing great. I dont know why homelessness is up and a record number of people are working 2 jobs, but that has nothing to do with the economy. The economy is a chart with a line going up, not that other shit. Grow up

I suspect there are leftists that have ableism problems, I just don't think that's a conclusion you can draw from looking at Grant Platner

Does "the left" have an r-word/ableism problem? Or is it something else, perhaps the clearest and most obvious thing based on ten thousand points of evidence, which is that this guy is a liar and a fraud?

Note the dyad here: left-Republican, not Democrat-Republican.

Seeing a lot of hostility towards indie journalists who'd long heard rumors of Salwell's abuses but didn't report on them, & I'm sorry, but that's not how journalism works. This isn't sitting on a story for a book. You can't report w/o sources. You can't out victims who aren't ready to go on record.

Around the same age I believe I asked my parents "when they bury people, do they bury them with the bones in or the bones out?"

I made a new board game. It'll revolutionize the industry, its impact will be bigger and more profound than Catan. Anyway, I don't think I should let you see it.

The most important context of this is that he's responding to a video in which ChatGPT is *lying about starting a timer.* The problem isn't the lack of a timer, it's the lying!

If social media had existed when Biodome came out, there would be days-long discourse about how reductive its environmental messaging was instead of understanding that the vast majority of its viewers just want to repeat "free mahi mahi. free mahi mahi" every day for the next 6 months.

Tired: Hobbies are neoliberal simulacra attempting to fill the void created by having a computer job.

Wired: If you do not have 5 hobbies, I will assume you are a degenerate phone addict.

Sorry but there's almost nothing redeeming about the politics of Project Hail Mary. Fun watch though, can't go wrong with Gosling.

Thankfully, he really is a Very Special Boy, so special, in fact, that, faced with a self-sacrificing ultimatum in which he must either save himself or save every creature on his new friend's planet -- oh wait actually he's totally fine and surprise! gets to go back to his day job!

The top scientific minds from all over the globe are bumbling idiots who can't help but elevate our American Special Boy With A Day Job to the position of Savior of the Galaxy

I keep seeing people post that, in spite of Andy Weir's dumb guy politics, Project Hail Mary demonstrates the triumph of international cooperation in the face of global crisis. And like, no it doesn't lol.

It's almost certainly more accurate to blame journalists and other public communicators who won't leave Nazi Twitter for the lack of growth on Bluesky

After 2020 lots of people became bad at their jobs, stopped doing hobbies once hobbies stopped trending on social, and are now addicted to their phones, but if you point out that being good at their jobs may have been better for their brains then you're a neoliberal shill

one time I was walking into the bar and saw someone beating the shit out of a guy who was already on the ground and before I could intervene a regular was like, oh, no, he was sticking his fingers into girlsโ€™ mouths. see that same kind of thing on here every day

From a user perspective, I don't care if bluesky grows. Have you met most people? I like bluesky because people here know how to construct a sentence and there are few incentives for engagement baiting.
