Can you expand on this? I'm unfamiliar with what aspect of historians' methodology (or methodological claims) you are referring to.

Point 1 is something that I think many people complaining "It's just doing token prediction!" have in mind already as well. They would take that to mean it's a system trained for token prediction being deployed in a context where such prediction isn't meaningful, which is their complaint.
However, you may have in mind also ways in which it is trained differently than for the purpose of token prediction.
You are describing it as trained to do token prediction but then deployed for a different purpose. But this is exactly what people complaining "It's just token prediction!" mean by that as well.
Congratulations to sridhar on his wedding. This is still one of my favorites
I have been saving this photo for my wedding night.
Bluesky reply.
I should have put these all in one post but I screwed up and now it's a slow drip of different outfits instead.
My whole life, people told me Alanis Morisette was wrong in "Ironic", she was dumb, she didn't know what she was talking about, etc. But then it actually did rain on my wedding day.

I am honestly hesitant to post this on Twitter for that reason.

I'm trying to learn about new topics.
Search isn't working. I now have two posting sites with broken search.
NYC Ferry. Nick Fury. A pun that supposes taking "NYC" as a pronounceable acronym rather than an initialism. Incredible. No one else is moving like this. I'm hearing "perfect joke" buzz. I'm hearing a perfect joke has finally been discovered.
'hindsight is always 20/20' is actually independent of ZF. cohen showed via a forcing argument that there are choiceless models where hindsight achieves 20/n vision for arbitrarily high n
Is Furby Hancock a mathematician? I've lost track.
I appreciated it even before this call-out. I didn't know (or perhaps I once knew and had forgotten) Furby Hancock moved like this (that is, was aware of contemporaryish logic to this detail).
Working for NYC Ferry. Wow! He's just like The Avengers.
The just war doctrine says you're not allowed to do anything that makes people's lives better. Just war.
The better the economy is doing, the worse I consider the economy, on account of how I hate the economy.
Clavicular is a 20 year old child and famous for no good reason, not due to any particular celebration-worthy talent. He is a victim of a form of mental illness that is exacerbated by attention. However, if I come up with a good joke about him, I will post it.

Famesick.
Why am I even commenting? No one should talk. There's no need for talking in 2026. We've all talked enough.
A little dignified mystery would go a long way. (I'm still broadly sympathetic to her, to be clear. She has eaten a lifetime of undeserved shit just for making some great TV.)
Lena Dunham made great TV. But she would've benefited from living in a world where artists do not talk frequently outside of their art about every unflattering detail of their real personal lives. Alas, the modern world she was great at fictionally chronicling is not the best one for her reputation.
