🌱We've been busy and want to share some exciting updates with all our members and supporters! Thanks for helping us reach the goal of our crowdfunder. We will continue supporting small grassroots organisations that tend to fall out of the scope of the traditional philanthropic sector. (1/6)

Image with the question: How do Edge grants support grassroots organisations? And the testimony of Communities for Holistic, Accessible, Rights Based Mental Health - CHARM (Manchester, UK) reading:

’We used the funds to support our campaigning work and to pay for meeting spaces, a zoom account that has enabled us to hold our monthly CHARM society meetings, and support and planning groups. These are our engine rooms generating the actions and projects we have been running’.

‘We have been running a campaign in support of the patients at Edenfield Secure Psychiatric hospital who experienced horrific human rights abuses. We called for an independent inquiry and got widespread media coverage’

‘We followed up with a presentation by people with lived experience to the Health Scrutiny Committee on the crisis in mental health services and we wrote our own response to the independent review finding, entitled Share Power to End the Abuse of Power’.

How Edge Fund grants support the grassroots groups? 'The grant went towards costs for our website and to produce a video to explain what was happening at Horse Hill Oil State' by Weald Action Group.

The campaign had a historic win in 2024 as the Supreme Court judged that Surrey County Council acted unlawfully by giving planning permission for oil production at Horse Hill without considering the climate impacts from burning the extracted oil. This has far-reaching results against the UK fossil sector. 'This is a welcome step towards a safer, fairer future' Sarah, Weald Action Group. 'If Horse Hill is considered unlawful all new oil and gas projects should be!' Laure, from Stop Rosebank
