Inspired by the grooves of Roy Ayers, I wanted to flex some of my musicianship skills that I’ve been improving on: piano, guitar and drums… since studying music theory extensively, my ability to craft robust chord progressions, key changes, melodies and soulful grooves has vastly improved.

Been on a bit of a creative/writer block, so I decided to get back to my roots of chopping samples, and getting out the box and just having fun… made this one that reminded me of some early 2000’s hip hop… what do yall think?

Definitely had to build up the courage to do it, but doing it once and going through the entire process gave me the confidence to do it myself from now on. I did it on the cheaper guitar first, doing my Les Paul today… practice makes perfect… saving a ton of money too

After yrs of taking my guitars to a luthier for setups, I finally did it myself & it was a success!

- changed the strings (only broke one in the process)
- cleaned exterior & pots
- polished frets & body
- adjusted neck relief, pickups & action
- fixed intonation

Looks new & plays beautifully now!

What do you like about the SD1 over the BD2?

I had a cheap delay pedal I hated so I removed it from the board haha… any recommendations on delay pedals you like?

Finally dialed in a nice tone I like on the pedalboard for some funky rhythm guitar

Wah pedal (if it calls for it) -> compressor (for the chicken grease strumming) -> blues driver (light transparent drive) -> eq pedal (low cut) -> chorus (width) -> noise gate -> spring reverb

Hey Now might be my current favorite off GNX… the way the beat stays minimal the entire time, and then they bring in the Freestyle FM lead synth build for the bridge when he sees spaceships on Rosecrans, then the way Dody6 starts his verse and how the beat goes back to minimal is just… 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
