This makes me unbelievably angry.
We were so close to prevention and cures for so many things.
Case in point: Individualized cancer treatments that reduced deaths & recurrence by half! mRNA cancer vaccines were doing well in trials to teach immune systems to recognize & attack cancer cells.

I wrote about why every lab should have AI use guidelines, and how to do it.

We’re just waking up in the US to this news. Give us a minute! I hate this rhetoric that people in the US are doing nothing. Here’s a map of just some of the protests happening TODAY: protestmap.info

Oh, Becky! Oh no. I am in tears reading this. I loved hearing about your lovely daughter and seeing photos of her beautiful smile. I remember meeting her as a baby when you first brought her in to campus. All my love to you and to your family and a giant e-hug now and real one later.

My office officially launched a new portal with Governor Healey to report violence and unlawful ICE activity here in MA.
This will help us keep track of incidents for potential legal action, help us gather data, and connect victims with resources and support.
One of my all time favorite class reviews was for Genetics. The student commented 'they should get an instructor who knows the material because this instructor just asks the students how to solve the problems'.
Here's our paper showing that collagens contribute to the final shape of the reproductive system in C. elegans

The image presents a study design, with sections labelled 'a' to 'd'. Section a outlines primary and secondary study objectives: association between two doses of RZV and reduced dementia risk in adults over 65. Sections b and d show KPSC EHR search flow, RZV vaccination status.
Vaccination with two doses of recombinant zoster vaccine is associated with a 51 percent reduction in the risk of dementia in adults over 65 years, reports a study published in Nature Communications. go.nature.com/4aHg6rM 🧪

We in the C. elegans community are lucky to have the #wormfeed. Big shout out to @microbeminded.bsky.social for creating such a wonderful gathering place.
And you can pin the wormfeed to your homescreen: bsky.app/profile/did:...
I have noticed that cars give bike riders without safety equipment a much wider berth than riders with safety equipment. Since I have had contact between my head and the pavement, I do always wear a helmet, BUT, when I have jacket, gloves, helmet, etc., cars do only leave inches when they pass me.
I’ve known Sam as an outstanding neuroscience researcher, and have followed his subsequent career as an insightful (and evidence-based) commentator on US politics. He deserves support from fellow scientists!
Get in. We're messing up Melania's Amazon search results. This weekend, Amazon is premiering it's $40 million Melania Trump documentary. It already seems to be a flop. But we're going to take it one step further by messing up Melania's Amazon search results. Specifically, we're going to amplify the paranormal erotic thriller, Melania: Devourer of Men so it ranks higher than her movie. The book is perfect: it's absurd, the cover is ridiculous, and it's free, so we're not giving Amazon any money. We need people to: 1. "buy" the book (it's free) 2. Share this post and get other people to buy the book. That's it. Then we can celebrate as an erotic novel about a bat monster Melania Trump becomes a higher and higher search result on Amazon.
Okay troublemakers, punks, antifa supervillains, and anyone who just enjoys being a petty little shitbird while they fuck up the algorithm of a massive media corp. Here's your assignment for the weekend. Get on it and spread the word.

Shingrix prevents shingles, which is horrible, and also reduces dementia risk! Well worth it.
Me too! I was 11! It did lead to a bit of disappointment later on…
