A lot of folks I've met from "elite" backgrounds (1) aren't that special, (2) are lacking complex inner lives due to (IMO) a lack of real-life experiences, and / or (3) lack empathy for the less fortunate

I think it's pretty gross and elitist to over-optimize the school your kids go to in order to avoid them having "mid" friends (something I just read in a real post)

I have never understood the argument that AI will kill us. I remember reading nick bostrom's superintelligence and thinking it took far too many logical leaps (and generally had a lot of magical thinking)
