also they’re really into genealogy and it’s easier to do if you don’t have a lot of John, son of John and Anne, son of John and Anne, forever and ever

looooong tradition, believe it or not

puritan names were the mormon names of their day, and there’s a fairly direct lineage there

I found this take confronting, but on reflection I like the outside of a samosa and I like the inside of a samosa but I’m not convinced they go together

great moment in Never Mind the Buzzcocks when Greg Davies introduced Daisy by saying “Dolly Parton once said ‘it costs a lot of money to look this cheap’, to which Daisy May Cooper replied ‘hold my beer’” and then looked terrified she was going to physically attack him

my 5yo son loves babies about as much as he loves dump trucks (and he loves dump trucks a LOT)

why are we acting like it’s a big deal, it only cost 2 months worth of food for my entire family

a weird thing that bugs me is when people call Canada geese “Canadian geese”

for some reason most species named after Canada don’t use the adjectival form

Canada goose, Canada lynx, Canada jay, Canada thistle, Canada lily

me holding my own hand. other than the skin tone being identical, it really does look like two different people’s hands.

i keep the nails on my polish-swatching hand quite a lot longer and they’re stained a bit pink, so now i can be both halves of a “my hands look like this so hers can look like that” pic

Steller sea lions are no longer a threatened species in North America, but the salmon they eat are often endangered. Sea lions’ only predators are orcas, sharks, and humans, and without human predation their numbers can get out of control, but also people remember them being endangered in the 80s.

I’ve reached the stage of not really believing everyone with PCOS even has the same disease, at this point. For example, my PCOS causes infrequent periods (<7/year) that are almost always light, and BCP did absolutely nothing for my symptoms.

yes, that’s what I meant to imply by saying everyone I know with a diagnosis has an obvious case! given that that is so, there indeed must be many less obvious ones going undiagnosed.

5 days ago 3 0 0 0

yeah, everyone I know with an endometriosis diagnosis has a comically obvious “literally what else could this even be” case of it AND also it took 7+ years to get that diagnosis

I straight up did not believe it was that prevalent, what the fuck

I have the other astonishingly prevalent gynecological disease, PCOS, which is also poorly researched, hooray

my 5yo is obsessed with the Halifax Explosion, but the death part freaks him out (sensibly) so he likes to insist everyone was rescued by army helicopters and/or Optimus Prime
