I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

We didn’t have these in my school in Ireland - I don’t think this was a thing in Ireland at all, certainly not in the 80s or 90s, but am open to being corrected!

If I could choose some, I’d probably go for something like Bosco, The Den, Fortycoats and Wanderley Wagon 🙂 #speirgorm

A tale of two Taytos: How an anthropomorphic crisp became a symbol for Irish identity How a half-man half-crisp in a suit became a symbol of the Irish diaspora—and an important part of the Brexit deliberations

In advance of #stpatricksday, here's a thread of essential articles about Irish stuff which you can present to international friends who wish to understand us better.

First up: a tale of two Taytos, by Róisín Lanigan.

Oooh, #Daredevil: Born Again is rather good, isn’t it?

The first CD I ever bought was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins. 25% because the cover was cool, 25% because it seemed like good value (double CD! Look at all those songs!) and 50% because it seemed like a credible/cool purchase for someone starting Uni.

Anyway, back to Now 22. It was pretty formative for me in terms of music tastes - contained absolute dance bangers like Something Good by Utah Saints, On A Ragga Tip by SL2, Finally by CeCe Peniston and Rhythm Is a Dancer by Snap. (We’ll skim over the inclusion of Jimmy Nail and Nick Berry.)

(I now kind of regret not having the chance to get to know Mr. Bowie’s stuff sooner.)

The first album I actually owned was An Innocent Man by Billy Joel. I didn’t buy it myself, though. I won a Sony Walkman when I was about 8 and didn’t have anything to play on it. Mum suggested Billy, as the only other options in the house, as I recall, were Queen, David Bowie and Elkie Brooks.

Report with the first album you bought with your own money

I’m pretty sure it was this one. Double cassette tape, purchased from Seamus in Music World in Athlone 🙂

In advance of #StormÉowyn what is one tried and tested tip for storm prep?

Mine is to fill the bath in advance so the water can be used for refilling the toilet cistern after flushing

Is it sad to be sad about a bus route? Can’t believe the 46A is soon to be no more. Feels like I spent about half my life on it between the mid 90s and early 10s! #dublinbus
