(Now wondering how I feel about honeycomb.)

Yes! This happened to me about 8 years ago and I still think about it and have often been intrigued as to why I was so completely repulsed and almost frightened by, um, some penne in a saucepan. I am so glad to read this poem!

Here’s a new poem – the first of a set of seven exploring the ‘capital vices’ (among other things) – in the terrific new issue of @magmapoetry.bsky.social
Warmest thanks to editors @aoifelyall.bsky.social and Victoria Kennefick for taking it in all its grottiness 🩷

Kate Wakeling: Send Me Your Poems! (Thoughts on Judging the Caterpillar Prize) I confess I made a strange noise when I opened the email from Rebecca at the Caterpillar Prize, asking if I might judge this year’s competition. It’s such a good prize! So many poets I admire have …

I wrote an article about judging the splendid Caterpillar Prize for children’s poetry (by adults) this year. Have a look – and send me your poems! ✨🐛🌱

Very grateful to have a poem on BBC Radio 3 this morning – thinking about Chopin's 'raindrop' prelude and me & my brother playing it as teenagers (pretty badly but with our v best intensity). You can hear me read it at 1:21:59 here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... 🌧️

Really loved helping to bring this year's showcase into the world. Brilliant classic poems and some contemporary bangers from Coral Rumble, @holliemcnish.bsky.social, @katewakeling.bsky.social, Simon Mole, Dave Calder and Clare Bevan...
