Be great if you could ask the president's party representatives here in RI about this. You know like Alan Meyers or Mike Chippendale etc...

Which leads one to wonder why? Why is the RIGOP not working to rid their party of someone like Mr Mellor (also wondering if RIGOP knew this was being recorded and shared) : www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpYz...

Once again here is Leader Chippendale talking about the League of RI Businesses. The League appears to be just another arm of the RIGOP. But more importantly Leader Chippendale is also upset with RIGOP members who criticize other candidates like Vic Mellor - an accused DV candidate.

Community voices in East Greenwich point to growing gap between daily life and politics Residents cite screen time, news fatigue and low early interest in the governor’s race

I think this is exactly what I see locally (considering this is my town) - the fatigue part cannot be understated at all. The news overwhelming us from DC has really brought people down. Thanks to @oceanstatemedia.bsky.social for this www.oceanstatemedia.org/news-and-cul...

Anyone facing a challenger sponsored by the League should listen to this and use it to their advantage. Again here's Mike Chippendale explaining how the League helps RIGOP. www.facebook.com/share/v/18YC...

I've been fascinated by the League of RI Businesses which is clearly a shell for the GOP but running candidates in the Democratic primaries. This is the clearest explanation of what they're doing from the RIGOP's own rep. www.facebook.com/share/v/18YC....

At one point that was at risk. Cuts in the EPA cut Hazard Mitigation. This is also making budgeting hard for towns with all the chaos. Then again, the costs of the tariffs for capital needs and new construction (in our case new schools) and the cost of fuel rising

Medicaid affects us in our school budget - it will pay for students with special needs. Medicaid also affects PILOT (for tax exempt things like housing authorities). Federal grants were lost in education funding for RI (the state then cuts local govt). We get federal funding for our waterfront.

But we don't have our own version of Medicaid or Social security

No our only way to raise revenue is property taxes. We all get differing amounts from the state but with the federal cuts we've all been reduced somewhat. If someone is cut by Medicaid, the towns have no real way to help except refer them to programs - EG has a social worker...

Everything that affects individuals, has also affected local munis. And the federal govt has reduced aid to Medicaid and education. Those things don't go away when the feds cut them.

I'm in local govt. We do have bond payments but we're also being cut in our school aid by the governor even though we have a growing population. Our cost of building schools went up due to tariffs, our cost for fuel/electricity has gone up. Our cost of insurance has gone up.

Can we ask the RIGOP if they support this war? Can we ask what they think of the poor planning (or complete lack of it) by the GOP admin? Can we ask why RIGOP continues to support this admin in a state that is not friendly to him? What is the point of the RIGOP anymore except to support Trump?

Can we just point out how completely awful this post is? The RIGOP Rep Chippendale touting the hiring practices of EB while neglecting to mention that a pointless war that got them the contract and the loss of lives and the wounded, the cost of gasoline and a moron who's leading this:

They like to pretend what happens on the national level doesn't affect us locally, but that's not true. Everything they do on the on the federal level affects us locally

State and local governments have to make up the difference. EG is looking at going over the cap this year. And I know we're not the only town. That's a question I would like to have the senator and her party address. In order to give to the wealthy, they've reduced services across the board.

One thing I've noticed is that RIGOP tends to ignore urban areas or deem them the problem for the state. In EG I think she/RIGOP has very limited appeal. Their social issue stance doesn't do well here. But I think the taxes question is big. When federal government cuts taxes for the wealthy,

Exciting news for RIC! 🎁

A transformational $1 million gift to the Rhode Island College Zvart Onanian School of Nursing is helping expand critical support for students, especially those at risk of falling behind in one of the college’s most rigorous programs.

She's a terrible candidate outside of Burrillville.

I'd love it if local reporters put those questions to the test. Ask her what she's cutting, ask her why after 8 years in the GA she still can't name or find out what the "opaque" items are in the budget, why her party cares more about gun rights then the poor in RI.

Their preferred candidates make much of social policy issues that are not well rec'd in RI; their latest push; guns are pretty much their sole platform issue as a party. delaCruz runs on populist Trump policies like taxes but declines to say what she's cutting to achieve those goals.

With all due respect to Sen delaCruz - an opaque budget after 8 years means she's not doing her job in getting clarification. What exactly has she done to get more clarity? And again what is she planning to cut in programming to achieve her 10% reduction in taxes?

East Greenwich's Earth Day cleanup was amazing! We had over 40 residents who showed up for our community!

In order to make that reduction work, programs will need to be cut or eliminated altogether. She should tell us what and who she's willing to hurt.

5 days ago 0 0 0 0

Sen. de la Cruz should tell us what she's willing to cut in her plan to cut income tax by 10%. She represents a party that has already cut federal programs to the most vulnerable and placed the burden on states and local govts. (including EG) and no where does she or her party own that.

It would be great to get an in-depth article about the RI League of businesses and what their platform is. They seem to be a pro-gun/anti choice/anti-vax group led by the Brewed Awakenings guy. What's their platform?

others need revenue. This is occurring locally as well. This year you will see a lot of local munis go up to and over the 4% cap in RI - all thanks to the GOP admin. Of course the Chamber is against it. Does the Chamber address the lost federal revenue? www.providencejournal.com/story/news/p...

It's important to realize that the tax applies to the $1,000,001 dollar income not to the whole amount. Opponents falsely claim the whole income will be taxed and that is simply not true. Further thanks to cuts by the federal govt (the same group locally who claims taxes are too high) our state and
