A milestone moment for Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford — and a huge credit to our incredible team.
Today we celebrated topping out on our EIT Oxford campus at Littlemore House, reaching the highest point of construction and marking a major step forward in this journey.
Wellcome trust headquarters building at night
I really enjoyed meeting John-Arne Røttingen, Chief Executive Officer of the Wellcome Trust. I continue to be impressed by Wellcome’s extraordinary contribution to advancing medicine in the UK and globally.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kirsty Duncan, former Minister of Science of Canada. I had the privilege of working with her closely on research funding and the Fundamental Science Review, and of welcoming her to UBC in 2017 and 2019. We have lost a truly wonderful public servant.
Thank you so much to the Ellison Scholars who attended my lecture today on EIT Oxford. I’m incredibly proud of how you’re doing and inspired by your curiosity and engagement.

A quiet migration is underway. A growing number of US academics are relocating elsewhere, and Oxford, with its collegiate community, institutional stability, and research reputation, stands to benefit considerably.

Very impressive work Nicholas
Congratulations to EIT’s Robert Watson and Lennard Lee on their important Lancet article outlining the UK landscape for cancer vaccine clinical trials. A timely, clear-eyed assessment of progress, opportunity, and the challenges ahead in this transformative field. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
Congratulations to Professor Andrew J. Scott, CBE, our Senior Director of Economics at the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford on his well-deserved recognition in His Majesty’s New Year’s Honours. A leader in the economics of longevity, Andrew’s work has reshaped how we think about longer lives.
Entering 2026, I’m optimistic about what lies ahead at the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford. With partners including the University of Oxford and the Cleveland Clinic, we’re scaling a model that turns cutting-edge research into real-world impact for Oxford, the UK, and the world.
