Cartographic map by Ryan Sawyers of the Virginia Redistricting Vote
Excellent map, which as always refutes the ridiculous notion that empty land votes (in fact, people vote, and the most densely populated parts of Virginia voted heavily YES) bluevirginia.us/2026/04/poli...
"These two headlines perfectly encapsulate how the media treats the two parties. In fact, it encapsulates how America treats them as well." (On Texas, the WaPo wrote that the Texas Republican gerrymander was "not a threat to democracy," but that "Virginia plunges America deeper into the gerrymandering abyss" WTF???
Reminder: the Bezos Post editorial page is right-wing-propaganda trash at this point. And much of the "mainstream" political media is just as bad. bluevirginia.us/2026/04/poli...
Everything is more expensive thanks to Republicans’ reckless policies, and their solution is to keep handing Trump a blank check to spend your money.
VOTE THEM OUT!
NEW: Legacy media called the Virginia redistricting election a “Democratic power grab,” and claimed the party's efforts to counter Trump's gerrymanders were driven by a “desire for an immediate political advantage.”
Democracy Docket’s coverage has taken a different approach:
Another (brief) article about the two flippable Georgia State Supreme Court elections on May 19th.
I’m gonna keep amplifying this every chance I get, and I hope you do, too.
Our Dem-aligned candidates are Miracle Rankin and Jen Jordan.

Senator @murray.senate.gov on Republican priorities:
“Don’t let anyone tell you their hands are tied. This is a choice…
It’s a choice to ignore skyrocketing costs.
It’s a choice to rubberstamp Trump’s agenda.
It’s a choice to hand Stephen Miller another blank check.”

Amen brother
Prices aren't falling, but Trump's approval rating sure is.
The American people are smart — they see through his cruel and costly policies.
🚨Our Republican colleagues would rather give $70 BILLION more to ICE than
Help Americans afford health care
Build 700,000 affordable homes
Provide childcare for 3.5 million children
Those are the choices

Thunderstorm chances return to portions of the Upper Midwest and central/southern Plains Thursday with severe weather and isolated flash flooding possible. The threat for severe weather then pushes south by Friday and lingers into Monday. Visit weather.gov for details.

Friendly reminder: For years now, only one party has consistently advocated for legislation to ban partisan gerrymandering
And it hasn’t been the GOP.
Republican leadership is weak leadership.
Speaker Johnson and House Republicans would rather support Trump’s costly war with Iran than stand up and fight for the hardworking taxpayers who are footing the bill.
Charlotte Observer: Opinion: Drug companies profited from the Big Beautiful Bill. So did Michael Whatley; "Whatley helped get the bill across the finish line, and he encouraged North Carolina leaders to support it. But he also may have financially benefitted from its passage."
New reporting reveals Big Oil Lobbyist Michael Whatley pushed for legislation that increased drug prices for North Carolinians while he profited.
Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—
AOC: Wah wah wah.
We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no.
What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.

Rollicking shambolic shitshow it is.....
Republicans were all-in on mid-decade redistricting, until voters started beating them at their own game.
This is textbook MAGA tantrum politics.
At 33 points, Trump’s approval rating is official lower than his felony count.
House Republicans’ priorities:
❌ End Trump’s war in Iran
✅ Create a “Trump Peace Prize”
❌ Lower costs for families
✅ Make a new $250 bill with Trump’s face on it
❌ Reign in Trump’s masked ICE agents
✅ Carve Trump’s face on Mt. Rushmore
Two things can be true:
Congress should pass uniform, national legislation reining in partisan gerrymandering; and
Until that happens, or every state adopts an independent redistricting commission, neither party is going to (or, frankly, should) unilaterally disarm.
Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.
"Dear Republicans, On Virginia, you got no one to blame but yourselves. We call this “hoisted by your own petard.” This is what you get for pledging your undying fealty to a corrupt, cheating, anti-democratic idiot. Sincerely, Your Former Republican Colleague" -Joe Walsh

They think you're stupid.
For the record: The Washington Post can go fuck itself.

Where was this energy when Tennessee Republicans stole Nashville’s seat, coach? Or when Republicans did it in Texas?
Between this and the weird West Bank “Judea and Samaria” you came here to push you continue to show your true colors - and they ain’t pretty.
