Day 21: Written by Peter David
Soulsearchers and Company #49 (2001) with pencils by Amanda Conner & inks by Steve Leialoha.
Peter was one of my favorite writers, so when Claypool started up, I followed!

Agreed!
Overmind!
Worth a Try will be the third book in the series. Aiden AKA Pi * Number 11 * Left Wing * Autistic * 25 * Dog Dad * Rule Follower * Trekkie Finn AKA Eggo * Number 5 * Joy Making * 26 * Dad * Rule annihilates * Foodie
..them. The book would have been stronger with her included more. YMMV.
I did return to those first chapters when the story caught up to them, & they did make better sense.
The setup for the third book was pretty obvious there at the end, so I’m looking forward to reading it as well.
Harry & Lando in their sleepwear in Lando’s antique four-poser bed.
One difference between this book & the 1st is that it focused pretty exclusively on the two of them without any apparent subplots. That was a bit of an issue for me, especially as Daisy—Lando’s supposed BFF—was practically nonexistent. Yes, there were some throwaway explanations, but I didn’t buy…
Picture of Lando & Harry.
The first few chapters were rough in terms of their unlikeability, but then the narrative shifts back in time to the previous book & shows their story during the same time. That allowed us to understand them better, adapt to each other, and really fall in love despite their differences.
Finished the second book in the “Try for Love” series by Jemma Croft.
In a way, it wasn’t as enjoyable as ”One Last Try” because Lando & Harry aren’t as likeable as Owen & Mathias. OTOH, because they were SO flawed, it was interesting as they worked through their problems to end up together.
Two books in the Hobtown Mystery Stories series: The Case of the Missing Men and The Cursed Hermit by Kris Bertin and Alexander Forbes.
Found it! It is in color. But I also have the 2nd book (which I think I bought 1st without realizing it was the 2nd in a series) in black & white. And they’re two different sizes—the kind of thing that annoys me. 😉
Much prefer the smaller format, which is more like Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys/et al.
I think it’s in color, but I’ll have to find where I stashed it. 🙂
I bought the first book and have yet to read it. Really need to remedy that.
I recently discovered this series and am now hooked.
Currently on the third book.
Did You Hear About Mimi Green? #1 with a cover by Nick Robles. It looks like a girl’s face splattered with blood is reflected on a broken phone or tablet. There are hearts of different colors going off the screen. It rests on some gooey, visceral material.
The premise is topical and has good potential, so I ordered the Nick Robles cover of it.

That was a very interesting article. Had never heard of Ron White before, either.
We’ll probably never know what really happened during those early days at Marvel, but few of the people in charge come off well now.
…addressed directly. They would just “disappear” together.
Orlando (Lando) was quirky and somewhat unlikeable, so I’m not sure how he will be as a main character, but I’m giving the book a try anyway.
Try Again Later, a book by Jemma Croft features Orlando and Harry from her first book, The Last Try.
The second book in the series is Try Again Later. It features two characters from The Final Try: Orlando (the best friend of Owen’s daughter, Daisy, and son of the area’s big landowner) and Harry (who was ”demoted” after Mathias joined the rugby team). Their romance Was alluded to but never…
