With Govt's changes to settlement, many more people will be trapped in temporary status for decades, lives dictated by the next Home Office decision. If NHS continues to act as a data-sharing arm for the Home Office, its going to be difficult to convince pple to trust the NHS when next crisis hits.

Also much needed acknowledgment of the experiences of our patients who wanted to get vaccinated but were unable to.
Disappointingly, this was not followed through in the recommendations; the Inquiry did not call for the charging policy or data-sharing practices to cease.
Over the last 4 yrs, @dotwuk.bsky.social has participated in the UK COVID-19 Inquiry. Yesterday the Inquiry published its report on vaccines and therapeutics.
It is a huge win to see the Inquiry officially recognise that NHS migrant charging and Home Office data-sharing undermined vaccine uptake.
Safety should not come with an expiry date.
Alongside four leading medical organisations, we urge the Home Secretary to rethink plans to cut refugee protection from 5 years to 30 months.
We warn that cutting the protection period could cause serious harm ➡️ tinyurl.com/3st3njuv
Utterly horrifying.
These young people sought safety here in the UK. Not only did our Government fail to protect them, it's still fighting not to release information about the deaths of people seeking sanctuary.

This is bittersweet news.
We agree, all hotels must close - but replacing them with large, prison-like camps simply shifts the harm elsewhere.
#CommunitiesNotCamps are essential for people seeking safety to rebuild their lives and heal.
#Lebanon is being targeted by Israeli strikes at an unprecedented scale since the war in the #MiddleEast began, with devastating and mounting civilian casualties.
We call for the immediate protection of civilians and full respect for #IHL.
"All of these deaths are preventable through the creation of safe routes.
"We're sending hundreds of millions of pounds to France to fund the policing operation there, and this policing operation includes the snatching of life vests from people.
Today’s reminder: we need safe routes now.
Four lives were lost in the Channel yesterday. Once again, without safe pathways to asylum, people are forced to risk their lives.
This is the result of political choices. It must change.
From today, 1 in 4 hospital referrals will be diverted under new government rules.
These changes to GP contracts risk turning access to hospital care into a lottery, denying millions care and putting patient safety at risk if decisions are swayed by pressure to meet targets ➡️ tinyurl.com/bda6bwp4
This is what unity looks like.
We joined half a million people at the @togetheralliance.bsky.social march this Saturday, standing together against the far-right.
When far-right ideology blocks our patients from accessing healthcare, we march for a system that cares for everyone.
“In our UK clinics, patients are already too afraid to seek NHS care in case it leads to an ICE-style raid at their home address.”
Over 1,000 healthcare professionals warn the EU’s far-right deportation plans could create the same climate of fear across Europe.
New analysis shows state policies to stop small boat crossings are driving deaths in the Channel.
Border policing doesn’t save lives - it forces people into deadlier routes.
It's clearer than ever: deterrence policies don't work. We must open safe routes now.

This Saturday, we’re marching for unity with the #Together Alliance.
Far-right hate is pushing people away from healthcare. Many avoid care or are excluded due to fear & hostile policies.
The far right thrives on division. A healthy society thrives on unity. March with us ➡️ togetheralliance.org.uk
We condemn all forms of anti-semitism and attacks on healthcare 🛑
Today's arson attacks on charity ambulances are appalling and reflect a rise in hate crimes against minority communities in the UK. Attacks on health facilities undermine essential care. We must choose humanity over hostility.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
#EidMubarak to all our incredible supporters and patients 💙
Thank you for helping us raise over £8K this Ramadan. Your donations will support people affected by conflict to access essential medical care. We wish you and your families a joyful Eid with your loved ones.
UK, it’s time to catch up.
Instead of pushing an anti-migrant agenda, Spain has recognised healthcare as the universal human right it is. All pregnant women and survivors of gender-based violence and torture, can now get the medical care they need without crippling fees.

Since the U.S.–Israeli airstrikes on Iran, thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes as the violence escalates.

When a child is going through a health crisis, the last thing a family should face is the threat of losing the care keeping their child alive.
The government’s new settlement rules will leave families already under immense strain facing years more instability and insecurity.
It raises serious human rights concerns yes!
Deporting sick children is a new low for our government.
Stability is vital for child development, especially for kids who have faced trauma. Forced removals risk ending lifesaving medical care while tearing them from school and everything they know.
#EndTheGag ❌
The #GlobalGagRule blocks U.S.-funded NGOs from providing or sharing information about #abortion. It has now been extended to restrict humanitarian health programmes supporting LGBTQIA+ rights and diversity, equity & inclusion.
We warn of the consequences ➡️ tinyurl.com/25h9zrbz
🛑 We reiterate that civilians must never be targets.
The recent US-Israeli strike on #Iran, and the following Iranian retaliation, have already affected thousands across the region. Our teams are on the ground, assessing urgent needs to provide the most effective response.
Harsh asylum rules do not stop people fleeing war or abuse.
Temporary status only traps traumatised people in a constant state of uncertainty, denying people the stability they need to rebuild their lives.
This is the opposite of the protection our asylum system should provide.
During the pandemic, the Government put its anti-migrant agenda ahead of people’s lives.
Hostile immigration enforcement stopped many migrants from safely accessing healthcare - leading to preventable infections and deaths.
The government's cruel choices put everyone’s health at risk.
It’s deeply alarming that detention centres are failing to follow their own safeguarding guidance - just weeks after excessive force against vulnerable migrants was exposed at Brook House.
Immigration detention actively inflicts harm. It must end.

ICE kills in the US - so why is Reform pushing for the same approach here?
This would mean neighbours terrorised in health facilities, leaving people too scared to get the healthcare they need. It’s a nightmare for everyone, including public health.
Thank you for your support Nadia 💙
