Damn I wish we had something similar here.
As someone who cycles everyday with my kids, I see enormously wide streets and roads that could easily fit protected bike lanes and still have two lanes for cars, but somehow we prioritise parking personal property on public land.

But instead we keep doubling down on sprawling suburbs and endless on street parking for cars, instead of quiet streets and bike infrastructure.

I don’t know how to even begin to convince others to get out of the car and walk or ride a bike.

That's so awesome! How does it ride with a load that big?

50 Reasons Why Everyone Should Want More Walkable Streets From making you live longer to making cities more resilient: If you want a reason to make your city more walkable, it's in here.

“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath

I've uploaded it to the American Fietser YouTube channel if you'd like to view it or share it there. 🙂

People would be much healthier if they spent at least an hour walking per day.

Neighborhoods should be designed to accommodate that.

10 watermelon, 8kg of bananas, 6 broccoli, half a cabbage and 3 trays of eggs all on sale at local vege stores and easily fit on my cargo bike.

I’ll admit, keeping the watermelon and eggs separate was tricky but I kept them all intact.

Going from A to B in a city can either enrich your well-being or compound your stress.

Infrastructure determines everything.

Omg I rode from Druten to this bakery for a day trip last July just to get one of these. Ended up with two.

I've been questioned a few times about why I need to park my cargo bike in a car park as i'm 'taking up a spot'.

I usually ask them if they'd prefer I parked my car here instead, and then point out how insanely space inefficient cars are.

There are trade-offs to using a bike vs a car.
I've traded some security for extra freedom. This is worth it to me. If something gets pinched then that sucks but I think I can trust our fellow humans more than that. Plus I never leave anything on it i'm not willing to lose.

I like to trust people, but if they do take something then they probably needed it more.
I usually cover up with a blanket and I never leave anything on it that I’m not willing to lose.
Being able to park right out front of most shops usually helps too (eyes on the street).

I think everyone should have the opportunity to grocery shop on a bike.

I swung by 3 shops, smiled at a few people, rode through a park and under some trees and parking was really easy.

Biking for everyday errands feels more like an adventure than a chore.

Kite Day at New Brighton was a heap of fun!
Too many to photograph so here's a small selection.

Thank you!
I certainly enjoy ridding it, and so do my kids.

Thanks! Yea I’ve been cargo biking for almost 2 years now, and there is no way I’m going back.

I get similar comments when I drop/pick up my kids from preschool.

I’m yet to figure out how to turn that interest from the kid into action from the parent.

Hopefully the more other parents see it’s possible, they might just make the leap.

It’s not a Coho, I’m not sure if the brand actually. I bought it second hand. It’s awesome though.

Thank you. The trailer is a newish addition and really completes this as the ultimate urban vehicle (for my needs anyway).

‘But I need a car because it’s school holidays and I have shopping to do’.

What we need are walkable communities.

The only difficulty about my outing today was navigating the lack of bike lanes that go to places you actually need to go to.

It sure is. I see you ride one too. Is it your daily vehicle?

My kids love frozen bananas so I buy in bulk when I can.

Cargo bike carrying tool box plus two large boxes of banana.

So much is possible whilst taking up so little space.

Found a great deal on bananas too good to pass by.

These bikes make quick, spontaneous shopping so easy.
