Wyoming opted out of USDA summer food assistance program, but bill would change that - WyoFile The federal program is “the most efficient, effective way to get food to those kids," bill sponsor Rep. Lloyd Larsen said.

Last year, Wyoming was one of 15 states to opt out of USDA program that provides income qualified families with a debit card to supplement family food needs during summer months when school isn't in session.

A bill that would direct the state to participate in it advanced out of committee Thursday.
