Pennsylvania's appellate court confirmed that access to abortion is a fundamental right under the Pennsylvania Constitution.
This decision is a win for all Pennsylvanians.
The government shouldn't be making your healthcare decisions - you should.

"Everyone will agree that in doing the job of a juror, a councillor, a telegraph clerk, we feel that we are fulfilling an obligation. And therefore it would be more correct to say that women are seeking obligations, and quite legitimately."

Judge Tempia freed the youth on bail with conditions including to live and sleep at his home address and to not enter any synagogue. She told the defendant: “I’m going to grant you bail so that you can be released today. “If you breach these bail conditions you will be arrested by the police.”
Call me unreasonable, but I do not in fact think that someone who has admitted to this arson attack in court should be allowed to walk out of that courtroom on bail.

…For decades, challenges to a given book came from a parent or another member of a local community. But in recent years, the #ALA has found, the trend shifted sharply to #government officials & such #conservative activists as #MomsForLiberty, who advocate “parental choice” [in reality, the […]
#BookBans & attempted bans remain at record highs, acc/to the American #Library Association, & efforts to have titles removed have never been more coordinated or politicized.
The #ALA on Monday issued its annual list of the #books most challenged at the country’s #libraries, part of the […]
Discovery directed toward Kashyap Patel & its enforcement is going to be really fun for @theatlantic.com's legal team. They're going to get his medical & psych records, & likely be able to subject him to independent medical & psych exams. Patel is too ignorant of the law to grasp what's coming.
If Eby put even 10% of this energy into the UBC skytrain, it would have been built already. What a loser.
“Mr. Eby said Monday that he changed his mind after B.C. Attorney-General Niki Sharma brokered an alternative. He told reporters his government and First Nations will form a working group to address his concerns about the court decision.”

It’s never been proven false in any court. In the UK the judge believed Heard. In the US the jury found for both Depp and Heard, an inconsistent verdict if ever there was one. They believed she was defamed by Adam Waldman who called her allegations a hoax - essentially saying her claims were true.
My mother talks about people who “just got off the boat”. Mom, you got off the bost in the early 50s. I have the actual papers documenting when you and your parents got off the literal, not metaphorical, boat!
"Latino" is a such a weird misnomer. This is a place where generations of indigenous families (& also Spanish-speaking families) were invaded 200 years ago by English-speaking foreigners with funny names like Crockett, Travis & Houston. It's not deportation. It's ethnic cleansing.
Race gets reified in especially silly ways in Texas, which contrasts with the “100 million“ number that makes it clear Bovino just wants to deport all Latinos including citizens
Mazie Hirono: Are you telling me you have a handle on Strait of Hormuz?
Chris Wright: Can you repeat the question?
Hirono repeats.
Wright, not answering the question: I've been discussing since day I was sworn in.
Hirono, points out Wright invented a nuke background he does not have.
We are about a week past Sam Bankman-Fried's deadline to declare who has been helping him write his “pro se” briefs. No filing has appeared on PACER.

While I’m happy this means the suit will go nowhere, I am devastated that we are reduced to celebrating partisanship in the judiciary.
TO BE CLEAR:
REPUBLICANS & MAGA cultism are to blame for how we got here, but it’s just fucking sad all the same.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
Schools are like "hey lock up your cell phones they're too damaging to the learning process. now please open up your lying plagiarism machine and start generating content"
I didnt know that hurricane were first given numbers for names.
And Winston Smith being unable to remember how the culture got there? (1984) …. He needed more art!
I grew up during Nixon. I remember details because of the humorous art and comments by artists and commedians.
It’s them & their work that will allow the culture to remember
So write dance joke sing and play: make the rememberable
i simply find it a little hard to believe that shortly after every website implemented ai code and fired a bunch of engineers they all started breaking constantly every single day but its not related to the ai code or the skeleton crew
That was the horror!
And so I will circle around to my constant point: the instinct for a comforting aristocracy is endemic in the human populace, and the job of democracy is to ruthlessly destroy it whenever it appears. Not build a political, legal and moral (prosperity gospel) framework which fucking encourages it.
Ai: the thing that makes us miss traditional plagiarism
