3/3 In December, we called for a benefits system, that is sufficient, compassionate and which enables people to work where they can – but which also offers a good quality of life for those who can’t. Today’s announcements feel like a step away from, instead of towards, that vision.

2/3 These changes will hinder the city's ambition to reduce child poverty. Our sector will inevitably face increased demand for information and crisis support from individuals and families. This will happen at a time when the #ThirdSector already faces financial challenges.

1/3 Like many of our members, we are dismayed at the planned cuts to social security. These changes will have a devastating effect on people in #Glasgow. This is borne out by the Government’s own impact assessment, which shows more people – including children – will be pushed into absolute poverty.

If the US had continued to support Ukraine, we may have been months away from the end of the war. The Russians would not have been able to continue to fight for much longer. They were making almost no progress, taking huge casualties.

There is no question that deep welfare cuts from @uklabourparty.bsky.social will be both devastating and economically counterproductive. Look at the impact of austerity over the last 14 years.
More austerity = more health/social damage = less productivity & more unable to work.

The markets are crashing, we can't afford eggs anymore, the economy is shrinking, our allies are abandoning us...

But we'll always have the Gulf of America.
