Many years back, I did a 5K followed by a beer mile. A part of me *really* wants to do a beer mile again.

I may be 50, but I'm like 22 mentally most of the time.

Remember last Labor Day when a rumor spread that IT happened? We were camping and I was gearing up to make a huge bonfire, dance around it, and drink all ALL our booze, and sing Yub Nub and celebrate Ewok style.

As important and as relevant today to being a good person as when first written in in the early 1900s

I had to make a difficult personal choice this week, and one thing that brought me comfort is that by not making that choice, I would be standing by what I considered Scout Law violations, and I can't just stand by. My scouts taught me that and I can't stand in from of them had I stood by.

For now, I'm going to continue to work with young people to help them grow in the aims of scouting: Character Development, Citizenship Training, Leadership Development, and Personal Fitness.

Those are things that all genders... no, all people, can benefit from as they grow up.

I've seen them be upstanders, putting themselves out there to defend against and stop bullying, harassment, and injustice. And I have been proud of not only my kid, but all the scouts I work with when that happens.

I think today provided them with a poor example, but I will help them navigate this.

I believe this is temporary, the progress we've seen in Scouting out of the past decade is important and will get back on track. It has to.

I've seen the real change and the real leaders of tomorrow I've helped influence. I've seen them make positive moral and ethical choices.

As a former scout, an Eagle Scout dad, and current Scoutmaster I find myself very disappointed by the news today.

However, Scouting is local. The real change, the real influence, the real work of building tomorrow's model citizens and leaders is done by folks like me weekly in your neighborhoods.

On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember and honor the six million Jewish lives and countless others murdered by the Nazi regime.

Today and every day, it’s on us to not only reflect but act to confront antisemitism and combat hate in all its forms.
