a game idea for an audience of 4: multiplayer car combat that requires you to have a steering wheel, pedals, and sinden light gun. one hand on wheel, other hand on gun, foot for pedals. it'd be the best car combat game ever made and absolutely nobody would ever get to play it. i want it so bad.

i think it's more acceptable nowadays esp with stuff like patreon, like that one guy who had a $70k patreon for minecraft shaders at one point. but yea it feels like people want to feel good by pretending they will donate.

oh man this is always a minefield for some dumb reason. people like to argue it should just be donation based even though modders have come out and said that they get zero or pocket change from donation links.

i'm not sure how much i'm liking the game yet, but holy crap the ui design and general aesthetic in the new marathon is just incredible. just some absolutely bold choices, bright colors, and really going into that kind of 80s vaporwave aesthetic. nothing else like it in AAA games at least

want to sit at my pc/desktop. but the steam deck probably won't be able to run it at 60fps at high res. so do i instead plug in my xbox series x devkit to my tv and play it through game pass where it'll run at 4k60 with auto hdr? but then i can't use any of the ui mods!

don’t think the pendulum will swing much either way. you can do vga res entirely software and you won’t notice much of a difference in perf or battery. but also it’s real easy to use the gpu to do basic 3d or complex 2d. but folks who don’t want to learn it will get along fine with no one noticing.

our recent doom/heretic releases do 4k120 on current gen consoles, but that required a multithreaded 3d renderer, and 8bpp output to reduce the bandwidth to the gpu by a third. it also depends on how much you care about power efficiency (aka battery life on handhelds)
