anyway they fuck and silco lavishes vander with attention. silcos not what he used to be either. hes doughy in the middle and does his own careful layering to hide it, but vander looks at him while hes getting fondled and feels relief and incredulous joy that theyve both made it to this point.
eventually silco visibly pulls himself together and says "i used to imagine you looking this way." and vander is completely befuddled so silco explains. "i was sure we were going to get ourselves killed before we ever had a shot at getting old and fat. and now here we are."
he lets silco stare for as long as he wants even if it makes him itch to cover back up. silco keeps staring and staring and eventually vanders like "are you gonna say anything?" but when he meets silcos eye he finds him looking like hes been hit in the head, wide-eyed, mouth ajar, face frozen.
theres a pause and then silcos like "i am looking" and vanders like "but youre not seeing" and silcos like "alright, then explain it to me." at that point vander cant really bring himself to put his embarrassment into words so he takes off his jacket and his belt and submits to silcos scrutiny
and so he kind of beats around the bush, alluding to having a different life now and things are more stable in a way that would once have been boring, hes not getting into fights, hes not running heists, etc. and silcos still not getting it so finally vanders like "just look at me sil!"
so silcos got him cornered and vanders like u know its not like that. & silcos like. well to put it bluntly we wouldve fucked by now. so something must have changed. not that change is anyones fault but id at least like to know what it was so that i know where we stand. & vanders like IVE changed.
eventually silco corners him because he hates mysteries when hes not the one being mysterious. tells him theres clearly something amiss and the sooner he admits it the sooner it can get sorted.
one sec gdi gotta go to costco
but a vander who withdraws isnt the vander silco knows. on the one hand, maybe silco misread this and vander doesnt want anything beyond their renewed friendship. on the other, he gets oddly self-denying around silco in a way he never was before, as if he doesnt know if hes allowed to beg for scraps
maybe this is when he starts wearing that wide belt. he knows hes not the vander from before and maybe thats a good thing but what if its what silco is looking for? a return to the old days, not when it went tits up but when they were a team, young and vivacious and always ready to spite the odds.
im still thinking about vander being suddenly self-conscious of his body post-reconciliation. before it was just a fact of aging and he wasnt trying to impress anyone but then silco comes back and vander worries that silco thinks hes let himself go, in both physique and ability to keep fighting

- if you have the Bleeding condition he catches up in half the time
- if you or one of them kills the other, the one whos still alive is unrecruitable
- if you stay out of it, vander kills silco
- if you kill one or the other on the overworld map with a gun, the other becomes immediately hostile to you

- theyre in the sewers on night day 1. cutscene where theyre having an argument. u can choose to fight one or the other, choose dialogue to influence who wins the fight, or stay out of it

wait what if in this scenario vander does another calendar but like, its a recreation of an old one. not exactly the same, but close to the same poses and outfits/themes/props/whatever as before.
2) he stops doing it post-divorce, then post-reconciliation silco finds one of the old calendars and is like [dreamy sigh] "u know theres probably a lot of demand for something like this again"
like im thinking he kind of gets bullied into it (amicably) when hes first trying to get the bar off the ground but either 1) it eventually just becomes tradition and the money goes to whoever needs it or
idea stuck in my brain of vander doing like. a sexy calendar as a fundraiser.
