Ben Franklin, on why you should get your kids vaccinated:
âIn 1736 I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation.

I actually think this is all one more example of how status anxiety and its much more tangled mess of resentments is far more important than simple economic concerns.
1. The central claim in the indictment of SPLC is a lie.
The DOJ/FBI accuse SPLC of lying to donors about seeking to âdismantleâ extremist groups while secretly funding them. But the funds were used to infiltrate & help law enforcement dismantle these groups. Kash Patel knows this is the truthâŠ
New AP poll has Trump's approval down to 33 percent. On his handling of the economy it's 30-70:

This is monstrous. Just profoundly shameful behavior by our government.

Donât worry, they said it trickles down.
Good news story of the day. Growth in renewables was greater than overall growth in demand, and renewables now make up over a third of all usage.
A new report shows that Trump appears to support medical fraud, as long as corporate executives and other elites are the ones committing it. buff.ly/cn3eT0r

Washington can only pay attention to a scandal or two at a time, which means in the Trump age there are all sorts of should-be-big-deal scandals that donât get the oxygen or media focus that they should.
I'll bet you've missed at least three of these: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/five-trump...
He voted against funding Israel the past 3 votes that I know of. But maybe you are one of those folks who believe that Jewish Americans have âmixed loyaltyâ like Trump does. đ€·ââïž
Why donât you look it up yourself instead of relying on this site meant to divide. âAnd mega donorsâ is letting them just add whoever they want. cwebbstudio.substack.com/p/track-aipa...

1/2 Palantir is only talking about tracking minorities but they are test cases for managing us all. Theil likely opposes education because people who think for themselves are hard to control and he sees himself as a philosopher king. Plato said "no one but the lover of learning" could join the Gods.
Really excited to see my and @ardenthistorian.bsky.social 's pieces on the nerdy fascism of Palantir up @religiondispatches.org -- give it a read, those people are weird and awful.

With his penchant for suits, ties and sweater vests, Federal Reserve chair nominee Kevin Warsh doesnât share the rumpled look of many of the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs he calls friends. But they still count him as one of their own. âYou wouldnât be hanging out with us if you were as normal as you claim to be,â Palantir CEO Alex Karp told Warsh on a podcast in 2022. If confirmed by the Senate, Warsh wouldnât just be the wealthiest Fed chair in history, he would also be the most tech-savvy and the closest to the tech-bro community to ever sit in the office. Warshâs connection to Karp and other titans of Silicon Valley such as reclusive PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, Yahoo founder Jerry Yang and prominent venture capitalist Marc Andreessen go back decades â to college at Stanford and to investments made alongside some of them beginning soon after Warsh resigned as a Fed governor in 2011.
Kevin Warsh ran a tech-focused VC fund for 15 years and counts Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen and Alex Karp among his friends. No wonder he's an AI evangelist.

Who knew that negotiating for world peace is nothing like cutting a deal for concrete with the Gambino crime family?
Globe showing the Atlantic Ocean with arrows depicting the AMOC circulation: warm surface currents (pink/red) flowing northward from the tropics toward the Arctic, and cold deep return currents (blue/purple) flowing southward. The background shows sea surface temperature trends, with a prominent blue cold patch, the "cold blob", south of Greenland, contrasting with warming (orange/red) across the rest of the ocean.
1/ There's a system of ocean currents in the Atlantic that shapes Europe's #climate, drives monsoons, and keeps sea levels stable along the US coast.
In the last 5 years, the scientific evidence that it could collapse has shifted dramatically.
Most people have no idea. đ§”
