I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
This is the playbook, folks.
If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.
Do not be quiet in this moment.
I stand with PBS.
I stand with NPR.
I stand with Stephen Colbert.
I stand with Jimmy Kimmel.
I stand with the First Amendment.
PERIOD.*
*Also #ReleaseTheEPSTEIN_Files
I know we keep focusing on Colbert and Kimmel as we should, but we also need to remember there are hundreds of people who work for these shows who also just lost their jobs because of this bullshit, and most of them are probably not millionaires.
Tweet from Dan Satterfield Ok, I keep getting asked about how to complain about Kimmel. The best way to complain that will have the biggest impact? See if you have a Sinclair or nexstar station in your area. 2. Watch the local newscast tonight or some time this week. 3. Note the companies that bought tv adverts. 4. Call them and let them know you will boycott them until they quit supporting that media company. Trust me. I worked in tv for 45 years. Nothing you do will have greater impact.

It was never about FREE SPEECH. It was always about the protection of HATE SPEECH.
The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice. As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree. Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich. Silencing us impoverishes the whole world. The WA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.
WGA Statement on ABC’s Decision to Pull Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“For reasons best understood by moguls and their lackeys, the people who run the media simply find people who do what we do either annoying or unprofitable. Extraneous. I don’t think readers agree. I truly do not.”

If I'm expected to vote blue no matter who, Democratic reps better do the fucking same.
If I "must" vote for billionaire moderates like @gavinnewsom.bsky.social, stop SABOTAGING @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social's mayoral run. The hypocrisy over the last couple weeks has been insane.
The IDF is claiming Anas Al Sharif was a Hamas leader (spoiler: it's a lie.)

As I worked over the winter on my new book, there was one chapter that felt particularly heavy—the accounts of Jewish refugee scientists fleeing Hitler's Europe and how democracy succumbed to fascism. Much of this feels too familiar right now: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/fleeing-on...
In honor of #MaybeHappyEnding turning its back on AA Broadway actors, my pitch to the universe - I want a jukebox musical adaptation of Joel Kim Booster's FIRE ISLAND.
Three guaranteed AA leading male roles per cast in the most fun adaptation of Pride & prejudice ever.
Please give this to me.
Evergreen "what the fuck?" To that thing that's trending.
A story about Stephen Colbert I’ve never shared before. Years ago I was hospitalized for a month. One of toughest things I ever had to
do. Confined, monitored, my health a mystery with no solution, cycling through roommates & their families who needed miracles, or would go off to surgery & vanish…
I have no words. Everyone prepared for the constitutional crisis of the President defying the SCOTUS. The crisis is the SCOTUS being fully aligned with Trump’s vision of presidential power. So here we are.
If the overlap of youngest Gen Xers and eldest millennials are Xennials, and the millennial/Gen Z version of that are Zennials, is Gen Alpha/Beta the Alphabet generation?
I just...
I have never cared about Catholicism so much in my life as I do now
