Santa Fe marched proudly and joyously on "No Kings
Day" along with millions of Americans nationwide pro-
testing the fascist regime that is attempting to destroy
our democracy. Heidi Feldman, founder of 1A Santa
Fe, helped make that happen, challenging the city's
demand for $25,000 to pay for the privilege that is our
constitutional right.
Now, 1A Santa Fe is circulating a petition for a Free
Expression and Public Assembly Ordinance for the city.
Read it at bit.ly/1Aordinance. This ordinance would
establish a streamlined process for approval from the
city to hold rallies, marches and demonstrations at no
cost. The petition will be presented to the City Council
soon; city leaders have said they want to revise the
ordinance as well. People may sign an online petition at
bit.ly/1Apetition.

Following California implementing a law raising its minimum wage to $20 for more than 500,000 fast-food workers in the state in 2024,
Christopher Thornberg, founding partner of research firm Beacon Economics, offered a warning about the state raising its minimum wage.

In the heart of Alaska, icy ocean currents lightly ripple at the base where a glacier meets the frigid sea. Dark rugged peaks rise against the blue-white ice, suggesting frozen stillness and reflection.

Imagine this scene on your wall, connecting ice ages past to our melting ice present. It’s more than a visual experience; it’s a reminder that even things seemingly frozen in time are fragile and temporal.

Here’s a quiet slice of Alaska I'm excited to share: "Glacial Cold Currents," by Tim Boese.

Pale blues and compressed whites meet dark, rugged peaks while frigid currents flatten reflections into steady bands. There’s a calm, measured stillness—ancient-feeling […]

This is a fascinating #economics video about the “petrodollar” and why USD is the world’s reserve currency. More importantly, it discusses efforts to change that system and what might happen if it did.

Helps me understand a lot of large systemic movements these days, although not completely - […]

At Least 88 Profitable U.S. Corporations Paid Zero Federal Income Tax in 2025 At least 88 of the largest corporations in America paid $0 in federal income tax for 2025. Corporate tax avoidance has increased at least in part due to President Trump's “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

"At least 88 of the largest corporations in America paid no federal corporate income taxes in their most recent fiscal year despite enjoying substantial pretax profits in the U.S."

Cool. Cool cool cool.

Emma needs ☕️ and paying work (@emma@orbital.horse) Gotta love how this #Oakland city council claims to care about unhoused people while continuing to criminalize them. Ken Houston and Charlene Wang need to STFU and go after landlords. https://oaklandside.org/2026/04/14/ken-houston-encampment-abatement-policy-passes-oakland/
