Happy National Library Week! 💙📚
The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

I’d take a weekly paper at this point.
Baking set to opera. Found this weirdly satisfying.
The second episode of Lit in the North is now live! We talk about poetry with actual poets! Or at least those that consider themselves poets...

Every year, hundreds of people walk silently through the streets of Minneapolis… looking at the windows of the houses.
It's the Wedge Cat Tour: the residents put the cats in the window and the crowd stops to admire them.
Yes. This exists. 😹
a digital illustration in the style of a relief print depicting a black cat in a defensive pose holding a torn and tattered transgender pride flag in its mouth as it looks directly towards the viewer. the background is purple with some specks of blue and pink showing through, and behind the cat is a black midground resembling grass or flames. the top right corner features a box with a caption reading "T.D.O.V."

A still from Twin Peaks featuring David Duchovny as the character Denise and David Lynch as Agent Cole. The text reads: And when you became Denise, I told all of your colleagues, those clown comics, to fix their hearts or die.
All day, every day. Transphobes are not welcome here.
The singular "they" has been around longer than English has had codified grammar, so really, anyone who fumes about it can go fuck themself

I'm grateful I had a mother that encouraged us to read whatever we wanted... there was a seemingly endless supply of Archie comics in the house growing up because as long as we were reading something, she didn't care what it was. She gave that spiel to a lot of parents.
Stop worrying about what YA books to let your kids read and let them sort it out with V C Andrews and cocaine era Stephen King as God intended
Thank you for bathing me
Now I will show my appreciation by jumping on you, which is a frog's way of giving you a hug

Sooooo I guess I can share this now... I got roped into co-hosting a little podcast about being a writer in the north and supporting writers in the north... aptly called Lit in the North.
First episode is now live, check it out if you're of a mind.

I told my boss that if we were young, we'd find a pub and stake out a table so we could be day drunk on green beer... but we are not young, and so we are at work instead.
Happy March 15. Here is my favorite Ides of March meme:
A digital drawing of different food items with legs and faces, and the text "Eat your veggies (or they'll eat you)" underneath them. There is an egg character, a pumpkin, a carrot, a beet, some flowers, an onion, peas in a pod, and an apple guy.
EAT YOUR VEGGIES!! OR THEY WILL EAT YOU!!
(you can't spell veggie without eggie)

‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’
‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’
‘Hello’ is not related to either.
Goodbye.

A shot of the night sky with Green northern lights and an orange glow from nearby light pollution.
Power is out, very likely due to heavy winds... makes it easier to see the stars, as well as a slight aurora with light pollution in the distance.
This Caturday, I write about the passing of my little Stormy baby.

Proving once again that my head is full of seemingly useless knowledge, I won lunch time trivia where the topic was breakfast cereal.
