like many, I avoided publicly complaining about staying home during the peak Covid years because I didn’t want to be associated with the MAGAs running around infecting everybody at the time.
but it’s been 6 years and I’d like to believe we can now talk about how it was both necessary AND hard.

He’s right.
Take a look at even straight news social media accounts and push notifications. Why is a a Boston news station “BREAKING NEWS” of a domestic shooting in Atlanta?
This games art style was one of the influences on my journey to develop my own. It is a beautiful game.
Happy 20th Okami!
something that reshaped the way I draw heads - if person looking up, ears will be lower than the eyes, if person looking down, ears will be placed higher than the eyes (apologies for scribbly example)

Yesss I remember learning this in school and it was so eye opening to me!
Scrolling through the entries for this pose, seeing a very common error:
When drawing the head, the tilt of the head is communicated almost entirely by the position of the ears relative to the face. A downward tilt, like this, puts the bottom of the ears in line with the eyes, not the nose.
based on what we know of the Supreme Court's qualified immunity orders, the likely explanation is "judges appointed by Democrats sided with victims of police brutality over violent cops"
Sotomayor has written about the "asymmetry" of these orders
(so have I 👇🏾)

If you watch and share one thing today make at this. Why is every democrat in the country not talking like this?
This week marks the 83rd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. We remember the courage of our ancestors in the face of their annihilation.

i guess the point is that the speed, scale, and methods of modern ultrawealth accumulation are so new to us that, with that in mind, it's not surprising at all that societies — including the wealthy, the poor and everyone else alike — have absolutely no idea what to do with or about it
this is another point the book makes; the specific forms and displays of wealth have changed just as rapidly as the methods and speeds at which one can accumulate it
A bed of moss in partial sunlight. Some of the moss is white, but it's mostly a vibrant green.
Three tiny orange mushrooms growing next to each other, each an inch taller than its neighbour.
A tree absolutely covered in moss and lichen.
Maple blossoms in sunlight, backed by a blue sky. They are a bright, stunning golden yellow.

"What happened in Gaza is not the Holocaust. What happened in Gaza is a particular genocide that happened in Gaza. Very different from the Holocaust, but conforming to the definition of genocide by the UN, which... is the only one that matters." - Omer Bartov www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
There's a *lot* going on here, but I'm struck by the irony of Roberts taking umbrage at EPA officials' public statements.
Just 2 years later, in upholding Trump's Muslim travel ban in Trump v Hawaii, Roberts wrote that Trump's bigoted public statements weren't relevant to the rule's validity.
this is just a lie. Ds in senate just voted 40 to 7 to restrict aid to Israel. For the first time basically ever, there is a visible, stark partisan divide on Israel.
Erasing that doesn't help Palestinians. It does help anti-establishment grifters like Cenk Uygur though.
What’s cool is how instrumental the pro-Israeli leadership of the Democratic Party is in elevating guys like Platner by taking stances that, by their very nature of being genocide sympathizers, reducing the moral gravity of “this guy has a nazi chest tattoo”
ugh i forgot how good he is
An artwork depicting a painter and her muse. In the main scene, the painter is leaning forward to brush a strand of hair from her subject's face. The subject is sitting with white lilies on a table behind her, she is wearing a long white gown and is holding onto a walking cane. A canvas can be seen on the foreground. Behind the two of them is a red curtain being pulled in the close up on the upper left corner, where the painter kisses the muse's cheek. The artwork is framed with peonies, forget me nots and scattered pages with pencil sketches.

It is just objectively true that you should limit your beef consumption if you care about the climate. It’s not particularly good for you either
Thanks for the answer!
Over just five days, the justices had decided the issue. Even as they debated the Obama plan’s possible burden on the power industry, in the entire chain of correspondence obtained by The Times, not a single justice, conservative or liberal, mentioned the dangers of a warming planet as one of the possible harms the court should consider.
Another data point in “originalism is a fraud.” So much for the law is the law we can’t think about the impact. They rail against “results oriented judging” in public but when their corporate clients make requests they know exactly what to do. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
What campaign is that?
everyone wants a devil to sell their soul to, to the extent that they'll sell it for nothing if they can find someone that might be a devil
Hegseth saying “The Pharisee Press” should be a fully mask off moment. He is saying “The Jewish Press”. But Christians of all political stripes are so devoted to using Pharisees as a rhetorical prop that liberal Christians regularly insist it’s totally fine, no matter how many Jews try to explain.
A part of the imaginaries currently surrounding “Woke 2” must include a grand project of historical revisionism in American education, imo. The fascists cry about DEI intersectional marxist indoctrination and the reality is that they are prescribing, if only in small part, an actual corrective.
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤
