Have you considered BIRD?

I made a tool that bakes NormalizedCrow's FeathersAndFur Shader into the main mesh.

This makes it work in fallback, with other shaders like poiyomi, improves performance, and lets you export to external software like Blender!

I think it only happens when I am interacting with my desktop, but not sure.

Oh yeah, same, black screens my pc for few moment, feels like a gpu driver crash.

Almost like we gave our PCs concrud :P

Matrix is far from a viable discord alternative, it is certainly a messaging alternative, but it is missing too many features discord users want and it is also just a mess, because of reliability and for server hosters, especially if they want federation on.

It is already self hostable, just not easily and without docs.
The major refactor is supposed to help with that.

And until federation it won't truly be the solution in all cases.

In the written blogs blog.fluxer.app they mention at one point how that is (well was, I think it might have hopped over or is going to) a thing done by a cloudflare worker, so not built into the app and would be trivial to rip it out in a fork.

And would be real odd if it affected federation.
