The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.
This should disqualify Hochul from getting another term alone. She can say whatever she wants about resisting Trump but with this action she's substantially caving to Trump's efforts to kick New Yorkers off their health care without even attempting actions to keep plans in place.
Just moments ago on a MAHA Action call, in the middle of Russell Brand discussing the Charlie Kirk shooting, a participant in the chat called for âNuremberg trialsâ for healthcare officials.
There was no push back to the desire for execution of public health officials.
Key context too is that he did it all in the service of plutocrats and powerful corporate interests.
Charlie Kirk spent his adult life promoting misinformation, hate, fear, and radicalism, and directing it at academics, vulnerable groups, and political opponents.
Thatâs his legacy.
"If they can make you put a mask on, they'll take your guns. They can make you take a vaccine, they control your children." - Charlie Kirk
"I know this sounds controversial, but peaceful and constitutional defiance of the federal government will actually strengthen the nation." - Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk Says Gun Deaths âUnfortunatelyâ Worth it to Keep 2nd Amendment
âI think it's worth it. Itâs worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal." - Charlie Kirk
I watched the Charlie Kirk video. I do not recommend it. It was awful. I canât imagine his children growing up and seeing that clip.
The political right built this mess. They deregulated guns and have been reveling in political violenceâand the threat of itâfor years.
But we need to fix it.
@warren.senate.gov is on board with caving
Just to underscore - Trump is flailing. His numbers with huge majority of Americans are in the toilet. Anyone advising Dems that they shouldn't be making the upcoming fight to keep funding the Trump regime with more blank checks without making it about opposing Trump are living in another planet.
First. As I said last week, Democrats remain out of power. Itâs unrealistic to think theyâll be able to roll back all Trumpâs unconstitutional actions. But they can target key ones. What should they demand? I would class them all under the package heading of Ending Dictator Rule. Trump has to follow the Constitution if he wants Democratsâ help. Three broad areas to target are: 1) Forcing Trump to get Congress to pass a law making his tariffs legal 2) Force him to end his rescissions and make him follow the congressionally passed budget. 3) End the invasions of American cities. Iâm not trying to frame these in ways that make them most politically powerful. And Iâm not putting them in order of importance. Iâm just noting these three broad areas. Second. A group of the most endangered House Republicans have now introduced a bill that would extend the Obamacare subsidies until the 2026 election. This has very little support among Republicans outside of those who stand a good shot of losing their seats next year. The idea is that it gets passed with Democratic votes. I said last week that basing a budget deal on this is a terrible idea. But that doesnât mean Democrats should say no. Change the bill to making the subsidies permanent again and then Democrats can vote for it. In fact, make them restore the Medicaid funding too. (Yes, no Congress can bind the actions of a future Congress. But you can make changing it again a lot harder and more visible.) Itâs just not the basis of any deal. Make Republicans clean up their own messes.
"Ending Dictator Rule" needs to be one of the key/essential components of any demand Dems must assert in their messaging to Republicans re #NoBlankChecks when funding the Trump regime. @joshtpm.bsky.social
Playing small ball around ACA subsidies won't cut it. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/on-sh...
Nothing will embolden antisemites more than deals like this. One foreign country getting favored and special treatment, as well as protection from criticism, on college campuses at the insistence of the United States government.
Make no mistake, we are in a war for democracy. On the anti side is the political right and its vast dark money and media messaging machine.
This machine needs to be systematically dismantled.
Watching these established institutions that should be fighting buckle under the weight of Trumpâs federal pressure is infuriating and scary.
But it also makes me wish there had been a Democrat in the last decade willing to throw down against the Heritage Foundation and other rightist groups.

This is what California politicians - both GOP and Democratic - are calling "sequoia restoration":
(it's clear-cutting)
This is the sort of smoking gun connection between a decision and outcome that gets people fired in a normal government

The Trump administration has cowed many of the institutions that are supposed to provide a check on itâincluding in the sciences.
That is very, very dangerous.
The author of this disinformation article should be known for one sentence he wrote September 2020.
Thatâs it.
This is enough to discredit him forever.
No wonder he censors it now with the help of @theatlantic.com, which aims to trick and deceive their readers.
The GOP has a great grift: Dismantle government and immiserate the population, then blame minority groups and government and continue the cycle.
Itâs villainy of the highest order.
The Republican Party is the John Birch Society: far-right lunatic conspiracy theorists, shouting about communism and pushing resegregation like itâs the 1950s again.
Fun seeing NYT cover democracy the way they cover climate science
For political appointees to face this kind of challenge from scientists at their agencies is really unprecedented.
Itâs a sign of deep trouble inside our vital public health and environmental institutions.
NEW: NSF will be kicked out of their building. Announcement will be made tomorrow by HUD Sec. and Governor of VA. HUD will take over the NSF building over the next two years.
NSF staffer: "There is no planning for NSF, no identified future location, appropriation for a new building or a move."

My comment about the RCT ministers promoting this as a universal tool is not hyperbole.
Thereâs a group at McMaster attempting to sell EBM as a universally valid epistemology.
Itâs ignorant and dangerous.
Itâs also what the loons south of us are attempting to institute.
