I found the paper animation for this in my closet so I thought I'd put a process video together. This was how I designed the animation style for Spiderman Punk.

In the shot where Mel’s sandal explodes, I actually drew a longer animation for it where the fire resolves in a prettier more technical way

Then I cut more than half of my drawings out because it wasn’t funny

My animation for the last Hades II Trailer.

At some point while I was working on the sound edit, I decided to go back and extend the animation for the sandal shot.

More context:

-This picture was likely edited to increase the contrast.

-When I draw in pencil I do the entire thing with 3H first, then use the HB only for the darkest shadows since 3H can’t reach that level of darkness.

-None of this is traditional. It’s just the way I do it.

Wow. I had all but forgotten about these.

This would’ve been done with two mechanical pencils- a 0.5mm with 3H and a 0.7mm with HB

Nothing to be sorry about! Nothing forced us to close, I just felt like it was time.

Thanks Sam! I think I’m probably going like even more aggressively indie.

This was a personal choice. I opened Studio Grackle on a whim, and one day I realized my heart wasn’t in it anymore.

We’re all still here and all still making animation. Grackle was just a name to unite under for a time.

I don’t know how to play this game

I had to entirely re-export this. I drew it nine years ago and the files were corrupted.

It was funny opening up the old files and seeing how different my priorities were and how many basic mistakes I was making.

This sequence was my baby back then and I remember being so proud of it.
