April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, giving sinus headaches and sneezes, stirring vengeful dust and pollen.
My “Going to Spain” reading list:
The Sun Also Rises (how NOT to behave abroad)
The Interior Castle (St. Teresa is my girl!)
La Amante Guerra (bc I need more Marauja Torres. Full stop.)
What We Tried to Bury Grows Here (already at the top of TBR)
Other recs, esp. by modern authors?

In my author’s note, I said that I hoped Midwatch would inspire other women service members to tell their stories. That hope remains true, and is more than ever. We exist in a period of uncertainty and indeterminacy, but make no mistake about it – morning will arrive. Until then, keep writing.

When writing the stories in Midwatch, I naïvely envisioned readers wondering, “Were things really that bad back then?” With recent DoD policy and leadership changes, these stories continue to be a reality for what many women & LGBTQ+ service members experience today.
Midwatch turns one today!
In this past year, I’ve learned much and am grateful for even more. Thank you so much to the entire @splitlippress.com team for taking a chance on this crazy little collection and helping to bring it into the world.
Thrilled and grateful can hardly sum it up. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with the @splitlippress.com team!
