‼️ New paper out in Political Behavior, in which we examine the accuracy of citizens' perceptions of parties' left-right positions outside of election time. Check out Semih's 🧵 below!
We started working on this paper back in *2020*, so we're absolutely thrilled to finally share it!
This piece makes good points but also common mistakes:
1. Gender gap among youth is because left-wing turn of women, not right-wing turn of men.
2. Young men are not the core of far-right support.
3. ’Modern sexism’ is less about Rogan-Tate toxic masculinity than about perceived discrimination.
What a great paper. Congratulations!
Congrats, Kira!
This is a very nice paper.
Recommended reading for anyone working on group identities and party competition!
Very interesting new paper by @jonnekamphorst.bsky.social, Alexander Davenport, Marcus Heagly, @eliasdinas.bsky.social and @arnoutvanderijt.bsky.social questioning the idea of a momentum for winners of US Presidential primaries: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

🇩🇰Election results: The parties in Mette Frederiksen’s centrist coalition government lost seats in the Danish elections - yet, Denmark could still end up with a centrist coalition as no clear governing coalition emerges on the left or the right
Coalition talks will now commence

@oleryborg.bsky.social has you covered on the anatomy of the election: election day, exit polls, projection and first elements of government formation

I've been asked over the last few days/weeks what I think will happen on April 12th in Orbán's 🇭🇺 (and the aftermath), so here's my assessment, looking at everything as it stands now 🧵
tldr: It's complicated, and no one really knows (and those who say they do are either lying or overly confident) 1/
The best email to wake up to on a Monday morning ☀️
Coming soon in @politicsgenderj.bsky.social: our study on gender differences in political efficacy and ambition among youth wing members, drawing on original survey data from 12 parties across Australia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden.
Unstoppable! Congrats! 🙌🏼
When you see the proofs, it feels a bit more real ✨

Why do social norms work differently when we interact with AI?
In a new paper (N = 1,108), we found that people are less sensitive to prosocial norms when interacting with AI because they are less accurate at predicting AI behavior.

Many congratulations, Kira. Wishing you all the best!
Very honored to receive the @ecpr-sep.bsky.social Best Paper Prize. I’m grateful to the jury for reading my work, and to Marco Lisi for suggesting this paper for nomination.
People significantly overestimate the social costs of changing their beliefs.
Partisans self censor and suppress dissent to avoid appearing disloyal and facing social punishment.
Reminding them of prior group loyalty can open them to changing their beliefs pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41627338/
Why does mainstream accommodation of far-right and Eurosceptic parties often electorally backfire? In my 3rd dissertation paper, just published in @wepsocial.bsky.social, I argue that voters specifically punish internally divided parties for accommodation: doi.org/10.1080/0140...
