Photo of a danish, a mug of chai, a sketchbook of watercolor plants and bugs, and a laptop with wallpaper of the painting “La Belle Dame Sans Merci”, which depicts a beautiful woman on a horse leaning down to a helmetless knight walking beside her

a painting of a man with a red beard Alt: Self portrait by famous artist Vincent Van Gogh, animated so that it looks at the viewer and winks

I’ve always desperately empathized with Vincent but man the do I strongly relate to the urge to eat the color yellow today 🫠

My first try I wanted to make him seem sadder, a little more peaceful, whereas the second I was staying truer to the og reference and I think the proportions are better too! I might add more cool tones to the skin, as I like those colors in the first version

Side by side comparisons of watercolor paintings of Jacob Elordi’s “creature” from Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein film. The character has grey skin with blue, yellow, and green undertones, limp brown hair, a blue collar, a fur coat, and red scars all over his face

I love GDT’s Frankenstein so I painted the creature back in December, then my mom wanted to gift it to a friend so I just painted myself a new one this past week and it’s really interesting to see the differences, having worked off of the same reference image months apart

ANYWAY I’m not a scientist but genetics are just so cool and weird even if I feel like I barely understand an infinitesimal fraction of it. Please look up these things yourself because they can lead to rad rabbit holes lol

(Of course weirdos could also take these silly spiritual things or real scientific theories and the Baldwin effect and shit and use it to justify eugenics and racial essentialism and stuff, which ruins it for EVERYONE and we should always swiftly kick anyone who does that!!!)

my ancestors were passionate about, their hobbies, or their trades, could be passed down to me through a shared lineage. Like a spiritual connection that maybe could be backed up by science, haha

We still have artwork from relatives who are long gone too, and it’s cool to both see and feel—

more innately to some rather than others due to generations of honing skills.

I honestly just think that growing up with a parent who was an artist just introduced me to skills and techniques that other children my age wouldn’t be introduced to for years, but it was def fun to think that what—

I can’t remember if this is at all related to epigenetic theories or is just funky dna coding over long periods of evolution, but I just love it 😭

I remember my dad telling me about epigenetics as a kid, but trying to explain it in a way I could understand and as an example, talked about how—

One thing that fascinates me about genetics is that if you take a weaver bird, raise them in captivity or only with non-weaver birds with no example of how to build their special nests, that adult weaver bird will still instinctually build their little basket nests

Like. Wow?

A watercolour painting of two coelacanth. They are covered in sparkles instead of different coloured scales. The one in front has the realistic colouring of navy and white, the one behind has inverted colours.

Final one of this Greek Myth quartet (although i have other myth pieces) MINOTAUR
I added subtle engraved labyrinth patterns to his horns, the ball of thread in his eye as hints to the myth. These were a personal project that I really enjoyed making, my recent project HEXCODE is a sort of sequel.

Please be aware of what’s happening in Lebanon. It is literally an evasion, they are going to annex the south of Lebanon, please don’t stop talking about this. Don’t let them get away with committing another genocide
