This year’s perpetual sunset begins the same day the Ember Moon is at its fullest. Bathed in both the sun’s rays and the moon’s beams, Maia stands defiantly in the face of authority. A silver pistol pointed in her direction will not shake her.

It will, however, shake the tall and burly dark-skinned man standing next to her with his both hands raised. Hastily, he starts,

“We didn’t mean to cause any trouble!"

Mind you, there are many random name/place generators that don't use generative AI so why not use those? Join writing communities where actual humans can give feedback! Read a wiki or a book if you wanna research! I feel like I'm losing my FAWRKING MIIIIIIIIND! AAAAAAAA!!!!

"I consider myself a writer but I use ChatGPT for ___, not for writing"-- whether for "research", for generating names, getting feedback but somehow not creative input--you fill in the blank. And its so infuriating because its like... is that not all apart of writing??? You're just lazy???

I was on TikTok listening to this person who said the worst piece of writing advice she got was during a panel where she was told to put her manuscript into ChatGPT for feedback/edits etc. That was bad in itself but the worst of it was people in the comments going:

Funnily enough, as part of my worldbuilding process, I have things separated by era and those girls started hating each other within the "Before Sleep" Era 😭 We didn't even get close to the "REM" era

While looking for "thread", I found the little worldbuilding thingy I wrote about the goddesses of my realm. They're sisters with a strained relationship during the "Before Sleep" era. :3c

Atop a pastel dreamscape background with fluffy clouds and plush-looking stars, the text reads:

Wayfaring Dreams

Insomnia plagues the Astral Paradise, a realm where it's people wish on stars for better sleep. Their lives worsen when the Sandman, the magician behind their sweet dreams, seemingly twists them into nightmares and ensnares the Astral People in comatose states. When he is arrested for his crimes, his daughter, Maia, is eager to prove his innocence. Blessed with the ability to dreamwalk, Maia promises to exonerate her father as she awakens one Astral Person at a time, unaware of how thin the veil between dreaming and waking is.

I’m in great need at the moment. Recently got a job rejection that could’ve changed my life, it’s hard as hell out here. If you have the means, I’d really appreciate the help.

A reporter raises his hand to ask that very question. The Commissioner scratches the stubble on his chin and says, “In my personal experience, most insomniacs’ll work themselves up n tire themselves out.”

Chatter among the crowd rumbles out as several hands from the front row rocket into the air immediately.

The noise fades out as the voice of a newscaster rolls in. The view becomes overcome with static for a few seconds. A child sits on the couch in silence, watching his mother hit her fist repeatedly over the top of the television.

She curses. “Pay all this money for this piece a’ junk and for what?”

The child, whose large blue eyes flicker back to the fuzzy screen, asks aloud,

“Does Dad get that way too?”

“Huh?”

“Like that Authority Member said,” he clarifies. “Does he?”

The mother stands upright. “Everyone does,” she answers after a while. “It’s normal to tire yourself out after staying awake for too long.”

The final rays of light duck below the horizon as the sun officially begins its retreat. The Sky’s Fabric holds a few bright and twinkling Stars that are visible now that the sun is gone. The air has a chill to it as the sun’s warmth is nowhere to be found.

Maia breathes outwards, watching the visible puff of air flow out until it dissipates around the view of the thirteenth moon sitting out tonight. It is large, full, and glows with a silvery hue as the paradise enters its Silver Moon cycle. She stares at the illuminated moon in awe before she notices that Malik and Clare are almost an entire foot ahead of her.

She jogs up behind them. “Hey, why’re we walking so fast? My legs still feel like jelly, hold on!”

Malik shrugs while Clare, who continues to speed walk, says, “I need to get to my car. I have to see if it’s okay.”

“Isn’t it just a company car, though?” Malik asks.
“Even if it’s not okay, the lab can take care of it, right?”

“No, it is indeed my car. The lab only pays for the stardust to keep it running,” she explains.
“Now hurry, please. I don’t want them to get even a single scratch on it!”

Thought I'd find something more profound searching up "care" lol

A week passes since The Sandman’s arrest, and for the first time since then, Maia notices that the media decides not to plaster her father’s face on the front page of the newspaper. Instead, the visage of an older gentleman with a stern gaze is printed on the front. The headline reads: “Pushing Daisies: Emperor Blume’s Final Contribution to The Gardens”.

The news of the emperor’s death comes from the beginning of the Ember Moon cycle, however, she supposes her father’s incarceration takes precedence over most things. Unfortunately.

She props her elbows on the round table in Clare’s hotel room and holds her face in her hands, starry eyes practically boring holes into the paper. Besides the occasional page turn sip of coffee, the room is silent. She breaks it, asking, “So, what? They finally buried him?”

Peering over the newspaper at Maia in her jadedness, Clare answers, “Yes. The funeral was held two nights ago. After they buried him, he really did make the flowers bloom.”

When I mentioned to my sibling that my chapters range between 9th-10th and 11th-12th grades, he said, "Doesn't most of America read at a 6th grade reading level?" 😭

After I finish a chapter of my novel, I plug it into a word counting site. The website has a feature where it gives you the reading level of your writing.
