My first listen in awhile, it’s still extraordinary how he mastered electronic jazz fusion alongside those abrasive gated IDM tracks like Chin Hippy 🤯

Almost 30 years ago to the day I put this on on a Virgin Megastore listening post and was as confused as awe struck. It’s hard to remember the time in dance music when there was either 4 to the floor or if you were lucky jungle, nothing like this

Dogs Versus Shadows & nicholas Langley- 16mm
An elusive set of compositions that always feels like it's poised to jump you but never does. Restrained in a way that lets the tension and release do the talking that dynamics normally do.

We did a Black Pylon guest mix for lovely Kate’s Dark Train show - now up to stream on Mixcloud. Black Pylon is our new tape label, third release coming soon. We also have a new collab album ‘16mm’ out on @strategictaper.bsky.social in case you didn’t know 😉
Thanks Chris
Looking forward to tonight's show and hearing this mix by Black Pylon - Lee has introduced us to so much cool stuff over the years and has been a great influence. 📻✨

Huge thanks for the support and for allowing us to reach our awkward teenage phase.
How about we start calling it the Disintegration iCloud? Huh!?
People are so quick to blame tapes. Anything bad happens, it’s the tape’s fault, right? But the thing is, tapes don’t disintegrate. I never heard of that happening before. What if it was the digital recorder that was glitching out and the tapes were just the patsy they pinned it on?
Monday morning catch up with the Dr's @darktrain.bsky.social with the Black Pylon mix from @thirdkindrecords.bsky.social X dogs versus shadows. A Black Pylon a day keeps the sonic drs at bay. Fact. 👍

💯
And yes I agree. It’s kinda the opposite of crate digging isn’t it
I’m not convinced there has been a net benefit overall. Yes it’s kept some brick and mortar record shops open but for more general music culture I’m not so sure

North America,
Strategic Tape Reserve audio cassettes are now available at the DNT Distro @dntrecords.bsky.social on your local continent. More affordable shipping and a crazy good selection of other labels and artists. Support your fine local independent mailorder experimental tape distro, please.
TBC I know this isn’t the shops’ fault, they mostly have consistent margins from what I can tell. More generally speaking, £45 records have created an environment where many collectors felt they had to stop buying vinyl, that’s the main problem here
For some this will sound moany but tbh I don’t give AF. The BS artists have to put up with whilst just trying to exist or occasionally break even is exhausting
…and of course most of the releases are just making money for the owners of dead artists’ estates. There’s room for different markets but it seems there is very little crossover between people who are really supporting new music and the RSD neon pink edition type collectors
RSD releases were a bit better this year than usual but it’s still a weirdly demoralising feeling for actual independent labels and artists. I picked up 2 records for a relative that added up to £90. 2 weeks ago you could buy 8 Third Kind records for that price…
A real treat to finally see this on an IMAX screen. A lot is made of the high quality animation and painting but the thing that blows me away still is the soundtrack, sound design, use of negative space, and pacing in the 2nd half. Such a psychedelic experience - and pivotal movie making

I think it’s safe to say the new BoC album will be continuing the dark feel of TH? Maybe more Heaven’s Gate cult than Day Of The Dead. Great to see them return whatever it brings
