I am thrilled to announce that, starting today, I am now working as the Director of Labs, CNET Group, for Ziff Davis. I have been away from Ziff Davis for a long time, and I am very happy to be back, supporting the great work of its fine technology publications.
I’m not saying people should sing it today! I’m saying we need more musical theatre songwriters to write Thanksgiving songs!!
I understand and am with you, but the problem is, there just aren’t a lot of Thanksgiving-oriented musical theatre songs. The public is crying out for SOMETHING.
…don’t tease me.
Just out of curiosity, have you heard of the TI-99/4A?!?
A zoomed-in portion of the Adventure book cover, which shows a “heavy-sixer” Atari 2600 sitting on a wooden table with an Adventure cartridge perched on the front panel.
First time I’m launching a book on Bluesky, so here goes: I’m excited to announce my latest, the Second Edition of Adventure: The Atari 2600 at the Dawn of Console Gaming! Now with homebrews, mods, and more. Available on Amazon in paperback/Kindle: www.amazon.com/dp/195793207... #retrogaming #atari
Ah, okay. I heard both were very good. I hope I get the chance to see them someday.
Did you see American Eclipse?
Did you see the reading of this?
A new song by Michael John LaChiusa is always cause for celebration. (Especially when it's sung by Mary Testa.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qivy...
@lopatto.bsky.social Hi--is it possible for you to follow me just long enough for me to send you a single private message?
I love the multiple layers of irony wrapped up in that.
The theater I saw it in was almost full, and no one sang. That made me happy. (There wasn't a lot of laughter, either, for what that's worth.)
If I'm going to have to start using BlueSky more now, is there any way we can get a better (heck, just good) iPad app?
At least you have your priorities straight.
The changes he made to the libretto to accommodate LuPone were appalling. I hope those are now permanently rolled back.
Does this mean there's going to be a new version of the book??
And which operetta were you listening to?
But why not carry it through episode after episode, I mean.
What exactly do you mean “it doesn’t have to be reset”?
Funny, I don’t carrot all.
I still don’t find TNG any lesser for it.
I really want to make a “that sucks” joke, but I can’t quite get there.
We need a support group.
I agree with all this, but the part that bothered me more was when Maria Friedman referred to the original in her speech as a “masterpiece.”
Yes, Ms. Friedman, but that’s not the version you’re doing!
I’m not sure that counts as nostalgia, though — we were trying to figure out how to write games that approached Infocom’s in sophistication, an ongoing and contemporaneous effort with the last gasp of text driven games like Legend’s.
And Gates McFadden is very good in it. It's more watchable than it's typically given credit for.
He was good in The Last Ship. But his presence wasn't enough to ignite the box office of a show most people just didn't want to see. (Which was a shame, because The Last Ship was in no way bad.)
That's an interesting question I've never thought of. But I do find myself wondering if there are any famous songs left out there that we don't know were written by someone else. Was someone really, really good at keeping a secret?
