"...women have almost five times the amount of childcare responsibilities that men have."
"...more pronounced among mothers who were trained in departments without women in senior positions"

A jury determined that Meta and Google were negligent and failed to warn users of the dangers associated with using YouTube, Instagram in a landmark social media addiction trial
Honestly, I am absolutely disgusted by academics suggesting that AI can do the reading and writing for you. At a certain point, what you're bragging about is fraud. And in a broader sense, what you're contributing to is the erosion of knowledge and the destruction of trust in academic publishing.

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

The report from @ccpanovascotia.bsky.social says many parents across [ #NovaScotia] are paying much more for childcare services than a provincial goal set in 2021 of $10 per day... [and #NS has not] achieved its goal of creating 9,500 new childcare spaces. www.ctvnews.ca/atlantic/nov...
The only way to reduce traffic is to *reduce traffic*. We need to give people a way to get around the province without a car.
Nova Scotia needs to rebuild our train network. That's the real solution. It's actually obscene that we had better public transportation two centuries ago than we do today.
What?
This was one of the glaring omissions for me in this budget & discussions of priorities. Investment in mental health has so many positive ripple effects & can lower other costs
Nova Scotia Liberals urge government to prevent HRM infant feeding clinic closure
By @mmughees.bsky.social
This is outrageous. Breasfeeding is HARD and ppl need to be supported to establish & and keep going. Support is vital. Atlantic Canada already has the lowest rates of bf in the country. This will worsen it acadiabroadcasting.ca/liberals-urg...
The messaging around this, at least in the UK where I lived at the time, was unbelievably inconsistent & confusing. I hoped & trusted I was doing the right thing when I got my 2nd dose at around 4 months pregnant in early 2022.
As long as Canada is nation-building we should consider universal basic mouthguard care.

Whether they're blaming vaccines and Tylenol, or selling dubious "remedies," what they're really doing is promoting the perception that families (and especially mothers) can prevent and treat Autism. And thus also the perception that people with Autism and their families don't need social support.
