We shouldn't have to wait months or years for safety improvements after serious crashes in Cobb.
Join me next week, Tuesday, April 28 at 7PM at 100 Cherokee St in Marietta to speak up and let our county commissioners know that we want Safe Streets and what specific actions we want them to take.

The state legislature has once again shown us their contempt for public transit, banning Cobb County from doing a transit referendum until 2032.
But the failure of public transit in Georgia isn't only the fault of the state, it's local too.
We had a blast celebrating our second anniversary of Marietta Bike Social! Big thanks to Justen Smith for the incredible bicycle portraits 📸
Every Saturday at 10AM outside Marietta Food Hall. Ride with us!
🏫 Next month, Bike School will be on May 16 so it doesn’t conflict with M2R Festival.
For the past two years, we’ve been running Marietta Bike Social, a casual 5-mile loop around the city.
We meet 10AM Saturdays in front of Marietta Food Hall. We have 15+ people show up every week now, way up from our start!

Our roads in Marietta & Cobb County shouldn’t feel dangerous just to get around.
Disconnected trails. Bike lanes next to 60mph traffic.
We keep asking “will people use it?” They can’t use what we haven’t built.
If you have to drive to ride, we’ve already failed.

Thank you for hosting this in downtown Marietta. Our community was thrilled for the thousands of dollars for the clothing they were able to get at absolutely no cost! 🙌🏿
Someone lost their leg on Frey Rd at Kennesaw State University. Not much has changed.
We need action now: scramble crossing, quick-build fixes, crash response team.

Walkability is not new. It is the Marietta we already have. Ask people if they want that. The answer is almost always yes.
The real question is whether our kids will be able to afford to stay here. Thanks @letspropelatl.bsky.social !
Marietta unanimously approved selling 34 acres of public land on Franklin Gateway to billionaire Arthur Blank. He now controls 60+ acres.
I don’t agree with the sale. However, our advocacy won 10 acres back for public use.
There were no town halls or opportunities for public input. We deserve more
Should Marietta give 34 acres of public land to a billionaire?
City Council votes TODAY to trade the former IKEA site for 10 acres. If approved, Arthur Blank would control 60+ acres on Franklin Gateway.
No clear plan for “community space.”

One thing I shared at the Life After Cars event hosted by @letspropelatl.bsky.social is that change in places like Marietta and Cobb County rarely happens overnight.
The work we’re doing now is laying the groundwork for what comes next.
Thanks to @letspropelatl.bsky.social for inviting me to join the panel for Life After Cars with @thewaroncars.bsky.social hosts Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon. Also great to share the conversation with @kelseabondatl.bsky.social
We can’t keep treating traffic violence as an unfortunate accidents!
I’m excited to introduce Marietta Bike School. It’s a free community space where neighbors can learn basic bike repair, get help diagnosing problems, and keep their bikes rolling.

At the YELLS Inc town hall asking about the future of the 33-acre IKEA site.
Arthur Blank already operates the Atlanta United Training Center in Marietta on land the city provided for $1.
If the city already owns this land, why does a billionaire partner need to be involved?
Do you have a bicycle sitting around? Bring it to the inaugural Marietta Bike School. We are fixing bikes to donate back to the community.
Please only donate bikes that work or need very minor repairs. Our volunteers can handle small fixes, but we’re not able to rebuild heavily damaged bikes. 🚲💚
Looking forward to this event! Get your VIP tickets and take public transit to meet me there
Kids should be able to safely walk to parks, courts, and community spaces.
At the YELLS Inc town hall about the future of the IKEA lot in Marietta, I raised a simple question. If Franklin Gateway is unsafe to walk along, how are kids supposed to get to the places we say are for them?
Now introducing Marietta Bike School.
Join us every 2nd Saturday starting March 14.
Start the morning with the Marietta Social Bike Ride at 10AM outside Marietta Food Hall.
Then roll over to Atherton Square behind Cool Beans for Marietta Bike School from noon to 2PM fr FREE basic bike repairs!
Join me and @letspropelatl.bsky.social at this amazing event to discuss how we can build a healthier, safer, and more connected community in Marietta. Grab your tickets here: givebutter.com/lifeaftercars
Should Marietta give away 33 acres to a billionaire or build something for the community?
The former IKEA site on Franklin Gateway is now city-owned. YELLS is collecting community input on what should go there.

🚲 Marietta Bike Social is back this Saturday.

Everyone is invited. Kids welcome. BYOBike. See you Saturday 💚🚲
Yes! Anything is possible with combined community effort. Been working hard to make sure something better goes on that spot.
Franklin Road has so much potential. After a cleanup with A Better Cobb, one thing is clear. The future of this corridor should be shaped by the people who live here.

Georgia House Rep. Gabriel Sanchez joined A Better Cobb at the Cobb County Commissioners meeting to condemn ICE & call for action.
Rep. Sanchez’s office has hired an immigrant liaison & introduced House Bill 889, which requires federal agents to clearly identify themselves.
