Michael's Fundraising Page at The 11 Day Power Play I need your support! I am playing in the #11DPP Community Shift this summer. It will be a grueling three hour shift but nothing compared to what cancer patients endure. Please support me to #PutCancer...

Another year playing in the 11 Day Power Play to raise money to fight cancer! I know times are uncertain right now, but if you’re in a position to donate to me and the team I would appreciate it. As always I have donated the initial $250 to kick things off. #SignalBoost

Four development boards in a modular case

Four development boards in a modular case

For people who have a lot of dev boards: would you want a form factor that let you put them in a eurorack/modular case?

I honestly don't know how many other people have multiple dev boards floating around projects concurrently, or how many other people end up with "desk spaghetti" like me.

Very much so! Preferably with blinking lights.

(Afaik) sure, but the one causes the other.

If we ‘question’ some debt and thus don’t pay it (because doing so would cause us to go above the debt ceiling) then it doesn’t get paid and so we would be in default on that debt.

Which would be bad.

Unconstitutional Debt Ceilings In 2011 and 2013, Republicans used the threat of sovereign default in attempts to extract policy concessions from Democrats. The nation’s debt ceiling enables s

One argument is that it violates the 14th, Section 4: “The validity of the public debt … shall not be questioned.”

Live 2024 Hancock County election results, winners, vote totals See who is winning in the November 5, 2024, local elections in Indiana with real-time results.

It was an ‘at large’ election, voters could choose any 3 candidates, he was the third most-chosen. A Dem dropping out wouldn’t have changed anything.

If someone has the corresponding image from the other side of the viewmaster reel, i would be happy to make this viewable in 3D, as nature intended.

TIL “Delaware has always had only one member of the United States House of Representatives, except for a single decade from 1813 to 1823, when the state had two at-large members.”

Rhode Island also had 1 rep in the first Congress. Still, feels weird.

Nah.

This is the path.

But requiring 2/3s in both chambers (not just measly supermajorities) hasn’t been achieved since 1965/66, when we passed the VRA in the first place.

> The 89th Congress is regarded as "arguably the most productive in American history".

Less excusable is French’s contention that Obamacare was passed via reconciliation. It wasn’t. It was passed in the Senate under regular order, by a vote of 60-39 on December 24, 2009. Later, after Democrats lost their supermajority in the Senate, the House passed the Senate bill and then passed a second bill that implemented a few modest increases to subsidy levels and taxes. None of them were critical to the overall bill, but the Senate agreed to support these changes. These small, nonessential adjustments are the only part of Obamacare that was passed via reconciliation.

Are you maybe thinking of the “Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010”, which was passed, separately, 3 months after the ACA?

The ACA was not passed using reconciliation.

1 year ago 17 0 1 0

The ACA was only allowed to pass because of a deal with a Dem Senator that it (1) wouldn’t cover abortion and that (2) Obama would sign an EO that federal funds (still) wouldn’t pay for abortions.
With ~4 months of Dem supermajority that includes that Senator, the votes just didn’t exist.

Who can read DMs?

A diagram shows Alice sending a DM to Bob through Bluesky. Alice and Bob can read the DM. Bluesky can read the DM, but access is carefully controlled, including for moderators. Eve (an outsider) cant read the DMs

DMs on Bluesky will not be "end-to-end encrypted" until we are able to do some more protocol work.

We have very careful access controls within our systems.

If you're extremely privacy conscious, I'd recommend using Bluesky DMs to share your Signal accounts!

My hot take is that I wish Bluesky didn’t add native DMs, even as an upgrade path to future e2ee.

Granted, Bluesky devs+leadership have been absolutely crushing it and I don’t know what I’m talking about regarding social media feature roadmaps, so more power to them.
