"Some people will prefer to use this channel, especially if they’re not confident of their level of English & would prefer Spanish or French."

There is no option to use Spanish or French.

I apologise for getting your name wrong. I assumed you were a techbro and misread Edna as Enda.

Brendan is very clearly only available in English.

The moniker that your parents foisted on you doesn't affect my point, nor does your gender.

Good man Enda, you are as confident and inaccurate as your beloved AI.

Brendan is only available in English. Note the butcher's apron to indicate this on the app.

GenAI is pure unadulterated shite. 100% inaccurate garbage BY DESIGN.

You don't seem to know anything about this tech despite the spewing of app specs.

Also, the app is only available through English so your use case is moot.

GenAI is built on stolen data. It is criminal, amoral and ecologically unsound. Stop swallowing techbro fascist shit.

Fuck off and take the AI slop fella with you.

Just hire actual tour guides you witless dullards.

Pointing out what Thom is doing is not cancelling Thom. Thom is being ridiculous and he deserves to be told that. You're an idiot.

Harris saying "we will not stand idly by" while doing exactly that. Ireland is the second largest purchaser of goods and services from Zionist Israel. Sickening.

"Data from "AI-aestheticed" advertising shows it attracts at least six times more reader attention than previous benchmarks, and more than 12 times conversion to e-commerce interaction."

Can Nadim share the source of this 'data'?

I won't hold my breath.

Book Covers of Note, April 2025 Hey, I hope you're all keeping safe and well. Apologies for a slightly rushed post this month. It's been kind of a busy time, and I'm travelling for work next week, so I'm sure I've missed a few covers and connections. I'll try to catch up over the summer if/when things quieten down. Anyway... there are still lots of great covers in this month's post -- some from the usual suspects for sure, but also a few indies, a university press, a couple of covers from the UK and Ireland, and one from Canada...

Here's this month's book covers of note

The Irish Times claiming AI slop is a photograph of Ardnacrusha workers on site from 1929.

Why not just fill the paper with text gobbledygook as well, or is it only the visual that you treat with contempt?

No publication with a shred of integrity would allow this to happen.

Poor old Jimmy Ray …

Oh, there's another Johnny Ray? I don't have the BBC at the moment. Ignore me.

He's referenced in Dexy's Come On Eileen:

Poor old Johnnie Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
Moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried
Sang along, who'd blame them?

David, the Ds have been at this shite for years and barely managed to get any Cs to their side in either the local or general election. We don't need to pander to the fears of a small and ignorant minority. The people's views on this aren't represented by a bell curve. There are far more As and Bs.

You're in the UK. Your infrastructure is shite because of Tory scum not because of immigrants.

Switch your brain on you daft English git.

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

What exactly are your concerns about 'uncontrolled' immigration?

I'll hazard a guess that they're based on ignorance or racism or possibly both.

Btw, the notion that it is uncontrolled is far right nonsense.

Sorry, I missed that. Do you discuss the physical and technical attributes of the original document anywhere?

Historians tend to elevate the textual and ignore the physical attributes of source material. It may stem from a sense that the physical characteristics are 'style' rather than substance.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Interesting that the physical and technical aspects of the archival document are not considered information.

- Was it handwritten
- Was it printed
- Was it copied
- Was it transmitted
- Was it stamped
- Was it signed
- Was it forged
- Was it redacted
- Was it damaged
- What typefaces were used

It won’t play well with Micheál Martin, but visiting Trump at the White House is not just futile, it’s completely counter-productive.

It's not that complicated.

Young British men are turning to fascism because British identity is inherently supremacist and built on the vilest history of imperial, colonial and genocidal actions over hundreds of years.

You wrote: "critical thinking, morality and ethics are in my mind the most vital of human core values"

I suggested that morality is too amorphous a concept to be a core human value.

You are the one who looks like an imbecile and shouting and miscalling my nationality isn't going to fix that.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Wrong again.

You haven't engaged with or countered any of my arguments.
